I am trying to get the toe brakes to work, with Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals. I tried changing the [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ignment in flight Sin 2004, but nothing is happening?

I saw a thread about this forum about this problem weeks ago which I now can't find, and I never considered that I might actually buy the pedals myself

If you could direct me to the thread, or p[Mod - Happy Thoughts] on the hint, I would be grateful.

The pedals are cool, otherwise!

Hey Julian,

The Rudder Pedals have three axes, one for the rudder and two foot pedal axes that are used for the toe brakes. There is also a rotary wheel in the centre that allows for the tension of the rudder movement to be increased and decreased.

Due to the way in which Flight Sim detects the pedals, they need to be correctly configured before you can start getting the most out of them.

Start by going opening FSX and going to Settings > Controls > Control Axes. Select the Rudder Pedals in Controller Type. Double click the Event Brake (left axis) and depress the left brake when the change [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ignment box appears. Left toe will appear in the window, and then click ok. Repeat the process for Brake (right axis) and the right pedal. Make sure that there is a tick in the Reverse box for both brake axes. Finally, double click Rudder Axis and perform the rudder movement, so that the Change [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ignment window detects the rudder axis. These are the only three axes that should be set to the pedals, if there are any more in the list delete them using the Delete Joystick [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ignment command.

Now that the axes are set, go to the Calibration window. Select the Rudder Pedals and then select Advanced Controls. Make sure that the sensitivities for both brake axes are set to 75-80% and that the null zones are set to 0% for both. The rudder should be set to 50-75% sensitivity with a small null zone of about 5%.

Before you load a flight, you will need to disable Auto Rudder. To do this, go to Settings > Realism and make sure that the Auto Rudder box does not have a tick inside it.

Now you are good to go. Load up a flight, when the plane is stationary on the runway depress the pedal, then release it. You will see the brake announcement in the corner of your screen. If all is well the indicator will appear and then disappear when the brake is released. If the brakes stay on, go back to Settings > Controls > Control Axes, and remove the ticks from the reverse box for the brake pedals.

This was for FSX.. should work in 2004.

I use the Saitek Rudder Pedals and what Seb said here works gr8 for FSX, but unforunately those toe brakes don't work in FS9, I still use a joystick button for the brakes. I have tried various combinations, but still can't figure it out. I would also be interested in knowing how to get it working in FS9. They actually work even on X-Plane

Hi

Make sure that there is a tick in the Reverse box for both brake axes.

This will make the toe brakes work.

I clicked on the tick for the toe brakes but it isn't work yet. Let me tinker with it for a bit.

I will go to their website, they may be able to help.

Thanks for the help

Hi Wycliffe, that's what I figured and gave it a try, but it doesn't save that setting. It stays on till the dialog box is up, the moment I click Ok and go back in to edit it, the check is already been removed

In some case it may be easier to direct edit the FS config-file with Notepad "C:\Docomeents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\fs9.CFG" . Or at least you can check the file how your changes effect the file, if any conflicts etc. Is may be required to close FS before access the file.

You may try exchange e.g. tou-breake and rudder to confirm the tou-breake signal acctually works in FS.

Following setting works with FS2004 and CH-products pedals, it may can give you a hint for your joystick.

I don't really fancy messing with the code, I guess I could dup the FS.cfg file.

I have pedals working now.

It would seem that you do actually have to have reverse ticked (as suggested) on the 'left and right toe axis', the sensitivity is maxed out, and the nulls about 25%

I looked at the SST Profile Editor and changed the right and left toe to 'directional axis'

This seems to work, for me.

Thanks for your help.

Lenart, tks for the settings, that sure did the trick....the feeling of using the brakes from the pedals...wow, to think that that is why I bought in the first place

Cheers!!
