Matt Booker Posted May 1, 2009 at 10:06 AM Posted May 1, 2009 at 10:06 AM Hi all, I keep having problems with FS9 to the extent where it no longer wants to load and just reverts to a black screen - I have tried everything including a reinstall of FS9 and a System Restore but no change, any help appreciated. Steven Perry Posted May 1, 2009 at 10:20 AM Posted May 1, 2009 at 10:20 AM Any recent software or hardware changes? New video drivers? On your FS9 reinstall, did you also reinstall all add-ons? Or just trying to run it fresh out of the box? Steven Perry VATSIM Supervisor
Matt Booker Posted May 1, 2009 at 10:26 AM Author Posted May 1, 2009 at 10:26 AM Hi Steven No changes this end - FS9 was reinstalled with no add-ons just default. Thanks. Matt BookerVATSIM Supervisor | Team 2 Lead[email protected]
Larry James 901346 Posted May 5, 2009 at 02:15 PM Posted May 5, 2009 at 02:15 PM Hi Steven No changes this end - FS9 was reinstalled with no add-ons just default. Thanks. A reinstall of FS9 is somewhat non-destructive. In other words, it'll keep a lot of your previous configurations and addons. Did you do a clean uninstall by deleting the FS9 directory (especially the root directory), the directory it creates in your My Docomeents area and the %appdata%\Microsoft\FS9 directory? If the problems are in any of those areas it might carry over to the reinstall if those areas are not removed or renamed. -- L. James -- L. D. Steven Perry Posted May 5, 2009 at 04:35 PM Posted May 5, 2009 at 04:35 PM BIOS? That seems different. Anything in particular that lead you to try that? Steven Perry VATSIM Supervisor
Larry James 901346 Posted May 6, 2009 at 02:00 PM Posted May 6, 2009 at 02:00 PM After a BIOS + FS9 Update, i'm back in the chair so to speak Cheers There's a good chance that you did something else at the same time that you were doing the two things that you just mentioned, that resolved the issue. Your messages suggest that you have already ran FS9 on this computer (before the BIOS update) which shows that FS9 was compatible with your former BIOS. FS9 is also compatible with the unpatched version of FS9. As far as I know about the only change with the FS9 update is to add and correct bridges. -- L. James -- L. D.
