Phillip Levy 1086899 Posted May 6, 2009 at 05:15 AM Posted May 6, 2009 at 05:15 AM Hello everyone, I have been using VRC for a few months and I cannot seem to RCX voice... Pilots can here me but I can hear anyone. Somtimes I can see the RCX light up orange as if they are talking to me, but I cannot actually hear anything. I also cannot "calibrate my mic" as I it says my backround noise it too great and when I click to hear "playback" I cannot hear anything. System: Vista 64x I have changed my port forwarding and what not. I have my audio settings set to "Wave" I run VRC as an admin Its the most frustrating thing ever! Any advice would be great, even if it's a link to a past forum, if you have questions about what I have and have not changed please ask. Wade Williams 877539 Posted May 6, 2009 at 02:55 PM Posted May 6, 2009 at 02:55 PM Phillip, Quite possible your ISP is blocking the UDP voice traffic. I have this issue if I forget to disconnect from my work connection before connecting to VATSIM. I can see planes, text, etc and voice appears configured correctly, but no voice. This is because my employer blocks UDP traffic. As soon as I disconnect and go to my home ISP, everything works. If you're at a university, this is quite likely the cause as most universities will block UDP traffic as well.

Wade Williams 877539 Posted May 7, 2009 at 01:54 AM Posted May 7, 2009 at 01:54 AM Phillip, If you're on a cable modem, the quickest test would be to connect your PC directly to the cable modem, byp[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing any routers. If that works, the problem is in the router. If you're on DSL, then the problem may be that your DSL modem is acting as a router and port forwarding needs to be configured in it. Johnathan McKiney 973523 Posted August 30, 2009 at 04:36 AM Posted August 30, 2009 at 04:36 AM I had the same problem back in '06. I was wondering if it is possible that my home ISP blocks UDP as well. I never did figure it out. Is it possible, for starters... that it's because I'm using a dial-up modem?
