Wycliffe Barrett Posted May 6, 2009 at 01:24 PM Posted May 6, 2009 at 01:24 PM Hi Guys Looking for alittle help here first off PC Specs Intel Dual Core e6400 2,13 ghz 2gig Kingston ram nvidia 8800gts 320 ram Ok the problem Load flight configure FMC etc and take off Heathrow to Zurich (offline) halfway through the flight I get a crash to desktop with the dialogue stating PC is out of memory. ODD The same problem happened again last night doing a Cradiff/Glasgow flight, after half the flight a CTD and message station PC out of memory. I got the MD11 on Saturday and have not completed one flight yet due to the CTD, when flying I have perhaps only the overhead open and nothing else, I have alocked 30fps no stutters and then bang ctd, most odd. Any ideas. Wycliffe Wycliffe Barrett: C3 Controller "if god meant for us to fly, he would have given us tickets" Mel Brooks
Chris Romaniello 1098092 Posted May 12, 2009 at 02:43 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 02:43 PM the pmdg md-11 is an awesome plane that puts a huge graphical load on a system. I don't think 2 gigs of ram is going to cut it. I was having crash to desktop myself and I have a quad-core with 4 gigs. I bought more ram...then started reading that non-64 bit OS doesn't see more than 3 gigs, so I wound up having to go to vista 64bit. I ran my first flight last night and was able to go 2.5 hours to my destination and not crash, so *knock on wood* I seem to have solved that problem. I must say that the graphics aren't as sharp since going to vista 64 for my fsx, but at least I'm in the air again. I'm not an expert in anything, so maybe I'm wrong with my conclusions, just giving my two cents.
Wycliffe Barrett Posted May 12, 2009 at 05:11 PM Author Posted May 12, 2009 at 05:11 PM chris from what i have read 64 bit is indeed the way to go. I am loathe to buy 64bit VISTA when Windows 7 is around the corner figurativley speaking. from what I have seen of windows 7 that is going to be a far better proposition for us flyboys. Steven Perry Posted May 12, 2009 at 11:11 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 11:11 PM You can get the Win7 Release Candidate free (and legally), use that until the release date. No? Steven Perry VATSIM Supervisor
Paul Tutty Posted May 12, 2009 at 11:17 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 11:17 PM Just chipping in to add that Windows 7 performance, for myself at least, is crazy amounts better than Vista. That's ultimate 32-bit version. I don't run the PMDG though, sorry.
Wycliffe Barrett Posted May 13, 2009 at 06:17 PM Author Posted May 13, 2009 at 06:17 PM Just in case you dont know the public RTM that you can download will two months before release shutdown every two hours or so. Also you need to back up your present VISTA installation as Windows & will not revert back to your present OS. Alla bit dodgy. Read as much as you can before doing anythuing. Steven Perry Posted May 13, 2009 at 11:20 PM Posted May 13, 2009 at 11:20 PM Start shutting down 2mos PRIOR to release? That makes.... zero sense. Two months after release would be nice. Oh well. Steven Perry VATSIM Supervisor
