How can I get weather without begging for it each time on open broadcast? Thanks.
Michael Hess 1046854 Posted May 9, 2009 at 05:39 PM Posted May 9, 2009 at 05:39 PM 1. Maybe skies are clear? 2. It will automatically update; you don't have to request it. -Cheers! Michael Hess ZMP Webmaster
Jack Larkin 1108461 Posted May 9, 2009 at 07:15 PM Author Posted May 9, 2009 at 07:15 PM I am aware that it automatically updates or that you can request it manually, however, in either case, it reads that it is updating but it doesn't show the actual weather. Can anyone help me here. Is there a special way to view the weather? Shouldn't it just appear in the SquawkBox box or scroll along the top? Michael Hess 1046854 Posted May 10, 2009 at 04:39 AM Posted May 10, 2009 at 04:39 AM Hehe, I didn't mean to imply that you were a complete idiot. I just asked those questions to be SURE it's not something totally obvious. Now, what do you mean by "it does not show the actual weather"? Also, in SquawkBox settings, be sure "Squawkbox controls weather" (or something like that) is checked. EDIT: Welcome to VATSIM! -Cheers! David Sybiak Posted May 10, 2009 at 05:23 AM Posted May 10, 2009 at 05:23 AM Hey Jack, I think that it just tells you the weather has been updated for the station. You can use the following to get the weather: .metar <airport code> (i.e. .metar KLAX) That will give you the current weather for the selected station. Hope this helps, -Dave Dave Sybiak - GA/Bush Pilot
Jack Larkin 1108461 Posted May 10, 2009 at 06:47 AM Author Posted May 10, 2009 at 06:47 AM Thank you Dave. Your reply was exactly what I was looking for. And Michael, I think I must be a complete idiot. Growing up, I was always told "when all else fails, RTFM." Well, I failed to do that here. Thanks for your help anyway, though. David Sybiak Posted May 10, 2009 at 02:29 PM Posted May 10, 2009 at 02:29 PM Glad I could help Jack... Here's the page out of the SquawkBox manual that goes over the "dot" commands. http://squawkbox.ca/doc/features/dotcommands.php You never know when you will find some of those commands useful.
