LUA Booking System Open For Business!

Greetings all!

 

Thank you for your patience, the Light Up America webpage is now up and running along with the booking system for the flights. I would encourage pilots and controllers alike to view their respected pages on the Light Up America page as there is information on each page regarding the operation of the event.

 

Please visit www.vatusa.net/lua and sign up now for available slots. All departure times are in zulu time and are pushback times. You may select your own callsign and aircraft type. ETA times are only estimates, obviously. There are limited slots available for specific airport combinations so if you know the places you may like to fly, choose quickly. While there are many airport combinations possible for this event, not all of them are used. This is simply because there is too much involved. Each departure airport will have 3-5 choices for arrivals and various numbers of flights between each of those arrival cities.

 

The booking system will remain open until 24 hours prior to the event beginning unless otherwise noted. Keep checking back to www.vatusa.net/lua for updates and any information you may need. Some forum posts will be made, but any important information will be posted on that page so it can be easily viewed by all.

 

VAs – I understand you may want to fly group flights between two cities but I can guarantee you there will not be enough slots for all your pilots to fly between DTW and PHX for example. Your best bet is to either pick a departure city and try to have all of your pilots depart that city or to pick an arrival city and have all of your pilots fly into that city. Either way, book early for the best possible slots.

 

ARTCCs – I will be in touch with each of you in the coming days to check on staffing. I want to make sure the staffing side of things goes off without a hitch. I plan to have the ACE Team standing by in case of emergency. More info will come to you separately.

 

Pilots – This event is for you. Sign up, get your spot and come out and fly! We can’t wait to see you all on May 30th when we Light Up America!
