Carl Trevor Culley Posted May 19, 2009 at 08:16 PM Posted May 19, 2009 at 08:16 PM Hi All, did a flight today online. Started at EGKK with no DEL,GND or TWR ATC available, once airborne I was contacted by London CTR and was given a sqwake code to change to. He then told me to fly direct to XXXX and climb to my cruise FL. All was carried out correctly ( I think ). Soon after I was instructed to resume under own navigation as no further ATC coverage was available and given a frequency change to unicom. Follwing this, should I have reset my xpndr to 2200 ??? tom van der elst Posted May 19, 2009 at 08:44 PM Posted May 19, 2009 at 08:44 PM you may do that but I myself leave it at the last [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned squawkcode. the reason : it usually saves me punching in 4 squawkcodes on an average flight also I think the squawkcode is [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned per destination or something. Maybe a controller type could point thát out for you, though. I've never really enlightened myself with regards to squawkcodes and the reasoning behind them. cheers Tom. Joshua Black Posted May 19, 2009 at 09:34 PM Posted May 19, 2009 at 09:34 PM I too do not bother changing the squawk code. I can see why you would want to, and that would be fine. I Find that if I leave my previous squawk code in, the next time I'm under ATC instruction, they may let me keep my previous squawk. Some more than others, but it's completely your call. Neither way is incorrect in my opinion. Joshua Black
