Lots of pro's and con's in the way it evolved. PPRUNE thread : http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=184428 ATC recordings: (and comments from pprune thread) http://www.liveatc.net/.archive/cyyz/CYYZ-Toronto-Aug-02-05-1530.mp3 In listening to the ATC Archive for CYYZ from 1530 to 1600 hours, Weather was of concern, but ATC was reporting weather 7 to 12 miles north of the field. Of interest, a comair RJ is asking about weather they have on their Radar right over the field, not once, but twice. She is questioning the weather over the field several times as looking very heavy. Time frame around 1540 hrs. http://www.liveatc.net/.archive/cyyz/CYYZ-Toronto-Aug-02-05-1600.mp3 3 mins in the controller realises what has happened and you here him telling other pilots. 5 mins in an aircraft declares a fuel emergency.
