Nairobi FIR Open Staff Position: Director Flight operations

The Nairobi FIR in Kenya, Central Africa is currently hiring staff members to help us prepare the FIR for VATSIM full time service.

 

We are looking for highly motivated individuals to help us bring the Nairobi FIR fully online in Central Africa. This FIR is very popular for VATSIM pilots. Our mission is to bring this FIR online regularly with highly professional ATC service that our pilots expect. Many who fly into this FIR have real world experience and are very professional. Our goal is to provide top notch ATC service for Kenya that pilots will come to expect.

 

Director Flight Operations:

 

The ideal candidate shall have at least 500 hours of flights on VATSIM and a very clean VATSIM record. Additionally, the candidate shall be well versed with ICAO docomeent 4444. Previous VA administration experience preferred but not required. Previous VATSIM staff positions, real world experience preferred, but not required. Transfer to the Region/Division is required.

 

Essential Admin Skills:

 

-Ability to create and maintain charts, AIRAC information, NOTAMS.

-Strong ability to repaint aircraft and edit aircraft config files when needed.

-Provide technical support to pilots as necessary.

-Strong ability to create scenery and AFCAD's.

-Basic HTML, PHP, and FTP.

-Excel, Word (or equivilent programmes) and graphics editing. Video production a plus.

-Strong written and oral communications with English language.

 

Duties:

 

The DFO will [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist the FIR Director with the following:

 

-[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist with all pilots and provide mentoring for new pilots needing [Mod - Happy Thoughts]istance within the FIR airspace.

-Be available to provide [Mod - Happy Thoughts]istance to pilots entering the FIR airspace during busy events.

-Developing and publishing current charts, NOTAMS, LOA's and FIR policies.

-Promotes and maintains VA relations within the Nairobi FIR.

-Promotes an aggressive events schedule and coordinates with VA's for events weekly.

-Develope and maintain a reliable flight booking interface for pilots.

-Develope and maintain an information center for pilots on our website.

-Updates preferred routing within the FIR

-[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist the FIR Director with promoting FIR events.

-Provides monthly FIR progress reports to the FIR Director.

-Refers conflicts and issues to the VATCAF Director/DCRM.

 

Expect to spend 4-8 hours per week on projects offline to keep the FIR up to date.
