I am thinking about getting the 9800GTX, but I don't have the PCI Express 2.0 slot I just have the PCI Express x16. My question is will the card work the fullest on my PCI Express x16. My Specs are as follow:

Windows XP Pro SP3

AMD 64x2 2.01GHz

2.00 GB of RAM (Soon to be 4.00 GB of Ram)

Core Processor 3800+

Thanks in advanced.

Theoretically yes. I'd wait for another answer before spending money though.

PCI-E is fully backwards compatible, so yes, a PCI-E 2.0 card will work on PCI-E 1.x port (and vice versa); as long as the card is installed in a port of the same size (x16 port). The downside is that the cards bandwidth will be limited to that of the motherboard's PCI-E 1.x port. To get the most out of it, you'd need a motherboard that has a PCI-E 2.0 port. Still much better than an integrated video card

Will I see a big differnence when it comes to the bandwidth?

As I understand it you're only getting half of the potential bandwidth on PCI 1.1 versus 2.0.

But will I see a big difference?

That's an impossible question to answer due to the myriad of potential bottlenecks that may be affecting your performance.
