Servinfo is a standalone program. It allows you to browse the VATSIM network and see where controllers and pilots are, just as the Internet Explorer allows you to browse the Internet and see where resources are.

You don't have to have FSInn loaded to browse the Internet with IE. You don't have to have FSInn loaded to browse the VATSIM network with Servinfo.

Might not be the best analogy, but I'm sure you get the picture.

As far as a manual, it appears to be fairly self explanatory. Click on ATC Overview to see an overview of the controllers online. Double click on one to zone in on that area. Then click on the Map Icon to see the map display, or click on other item such as Country or Airport Details.

I was browsing Servinfo when I was giving that description. Anyone else would probably say something almost totally different about browsing it. There are so many things you can do with it that different people might mention features and methods of browsing that might be a long time in overlapping.

If you start to browse around it you might soon wonder why I didn’t mention something you might immediately discover.

Type in your favorite ICAO, and it’ll immediately focus on that vicinity.

May I know how to use the Join Channel button (VOICE SERVERS) in Servinfo? I cannot connect to the channel when I click on it. Nothing happens to it.

Thanks.

That's an obsolete feature that is discouraged and being phased out of the VATSIM environment.

Why is it obsolete?

It is more convenient to just click on the button than to write the /channel name, etc. in SB3 and FSInn. Isnt it?

With both SB and FSinn they automatically join the voice server and channel when you dial in the correct frequency.

Those features you're trying to use with Servinfo isn't a part of the VATSIM design. The purpose of Servinfo is to browse the network... see how it's populated.

You'll have to use your Flight Simulator cockpit's radio to tune to your desired frequency, as Norman said. If tuning your cockpit's radio fails, either you're trying to tune to a frequency that is unavailable or out of range or you're having problems with your pilot client.

Thanks guys.

So I suppose the short and long of it is that the Join Channel Button in ServInfo doesnt work at all. That settles it.

Thanks again.
