Steven Cullen Posted June 20, 2009 at 11:22 AM Posted June 20, 2009 at 11:22 AM Hello, If you are using SB4, this will show you how to set up the sound equipment http://squawkbox.ca/doc/ For FSInn, (as taken from the stickies at the top of the FSInn help section on these forums), "...Configuring Sound (VATSIM Voice and PTT/Push To Talk): While running Flight Simulator, bring up the FSFDT Control Panel. It's the icon in the tasktray that looks like a traffic light sign. Click on Voice -> VATSIM (Choose your sound devices) -> Click on Volumes -> (Insure Sliders are to the right for more volume) Click on Key mappings -> (Choose your PTT for keyboard [and or joystick button])..." Lennart Vedin Posted June 21, 2009 at 08:22 PM Posted June 21, 2009 at 08:22 PM 1. FS does use the Windows default sound device, make sure Windows Control panel -> Sounds and audio device -> Audio > Sound playback is set to you speaker. 2. SQ4 can select device by in the listbox as described. Notice you can only divide the sound if you have two sound devices and installed in your Windows. That mean USB-headset or two sound boards in your computer. / Lennart Vedin /

Larry James 901346 Posted June 24, 2009 at 04:03 AM Posted June 24, 2009 at 04:03 AM Is it possible to have the headset give only the sound of the ATC (SQ) and all other sounds from flight simulator to come from the speakers separately?? If so how?? With the flight simulator versions previous to FSX you were stuck to only using Windows' default sound device for it's sounds. That means you'd have to use the feature of the pilot client to select the other sound device that wasn't your default device. FSX, just like the pilot clients, allow you to choose which device you'll output your sound to. As others mentioned, you'd need at least two sound devices if you want to specify the outputs to different ones. You can find the available sound devices by going into the sound setup option of your pilot client. FSX also has a list of your available sound devices to choose from. Just look for the sound device that represents your head set and set your pilot client for that one. Leave or set your Flight Simulator sound device to the device that is specific for your speakers. -- L. James -- L. D.
