Alexander Cohrs Posted June 22, 2009 at 10:34 AM Posted June 22, 2009 at 10:34 AM Gentlemen, effective immediately, Central Africa Control (AFRC_FSS) is not a Non-Radar station anymore, but provides full radar coverage in whole Central Africa from FL130 on. The decision was just being made at the Q2 VATCAF staff meeting and is mainly based on the real world developments: As we see many countries in Central Africa implementing Radar coverage right now, we feel the need to adjust our procedures as well. Also, this decision complies with the requests we got from many pilots stating they would prefer a full radar service instead of Procedural Control based on position reports. We believe that our decision will make flying in Central Africa even more attractive. Similar to Eurocontrol in Europe, Central Africa Control provides ATC service for whole Central Africa from FL130 on - except areas where a local Center is online. Please note that the oceanic parts of our airspace (for example south of Ghana) is still a Non-Radar enviroment that requires procedural control based on position reports provided by the pilots. List of FIRS covered by AFRC_FSS : GLRB -- Roberts FIR, Liberia DIII -- Abidjan FIR, Cote d'Ivoire DGAC -- Accra FIR, Ghana DNKK -- Kano FIR, Nigeria FCCC -- Brazzaville FIR, Congo FZZA -- Kinshasa FIR, Democratic Republic of Congo HUEC -- Entebbe FIR, Uganda HKNA -- Nairobi FIR, Kenya HCSM -- Mogadishu FIR, Somalia FSSS -- Seychelles FIR, Seychelles HRYR -- Kigali FIR, Rwanda HBBA -- Bujumbura FIR, Burundi HTDC -- Dar-Es-Salaam FIR, Tanzania FNAN -- Luanda FIR, Angola FLFI -- Lusaka FIR, Zambia Looking forward to see you online!
