Larry James 901346 Posted June 24, 2009 at 03:55 AM Posted June 24, 2009 at 03:55 AM How do servers work and what do I enter in the server box when I connect? I don’t know how technical you’re trying to get, but in general a server is about the lowest component of the network that provides connectivity to the network. It’s a machine you can physically connect to for the multiplayer environment. You type in the host name or IP number of the server into the server box. I believe by default both clients will provide a dropdown list to choose from. You can use Servinfo’s server feature to get a list of available servers (the Network Servers button). You can also click on the server name in Servinfo to test the speed of the server and idealistically pick one that is more robust for your physical location. You can also get a list of available servers by clicking on the resource page on VATSIM’s front page. The direct link is: http://www.vatsim.net/data/who.html . That’s a very broad overview. Someone else might go into more technical details for you. -- L. James -- L. D. For FSInn/VATSIM issues, please test the FSInn Installation sticky and linked FAQ. It really works!
