Trent Hopkinson Posted July 4, 2009 at 02:44 AM Posted July 4, 2009 at 02:44 AM (edited) Note: This flight has been completed. 1441z The Fourth of July. Because it's Independance day, and topical, in an ironic sort of way, I thought I'd continue my 747 Hours increase by flying the trans atlantic from London to Boston, (this time in a plane with paying p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]engers instead of a Sailing ship with Redcoats and Hessians). I will be of course, broadcasting my flight on my sag tv channel, possibly with the odd scene from Empire total war playing over the top of the FS http://www.vacc-sag.org/sagtv.php?pid=812681 Tune in, Fly along, Control, whatever. See yas all there. Trent Hopkinson Posted July 4, 2009 at 01:15 PM Author Posted July 4, 2009 at 01:15 PM (edited) The British Are coming! The British are coming! Not quite a Cross the Pond, but not too shabby either when all considered. Certainly better than in 1776! Present day: Speedbird 213 makes Landfall near Nova Scotia To the sweet dultious tones of Boston ATIS Real Recording (thanks to being crazy enough to actually ring internationally to Boston to listen to the ATIS) Incidently settling once and for all a wonder I had about the usage of ATIS Information Z in America. Trent Hopkinson Posted July 4, 2009 at 02:01 PM Author Posted July 4, 2009 at 02:01 PM So, as if to shadow the former post's 1776 picture, Mark Richards' BAW117 ends up converging to me after being on the Nat-D how tight is that! closer than when we departed! (I was a touch faster Mach at Cost Index 150 for this flight) Trent Hopkinson YMML. www.youtube.com/musicalaviator WorldFlight 2002,2008,2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2015
Trent Hopkinson Posted July 4, 2009 at 02:36 PM Author Posted July 4, 2009 at 02:36 PM And so we arrive into Boston, and my how it's changed over the last 233 years. The friendliness of the trans-atlantic anglo relations has improved somewhat also, thankfully! Mark Richards Posted July 4, 2009 at 04:14 PM Posted July 4, 2009 at 04:14 PM It was fun making Oceanic calls at all my Oceanic waypoints and hearing Trent make his just a few minutes later and then converging at TOPPS only 5nm apart! Just after that I lost internet connection for most of my approach, getting back online establishing on final. It was nice to be in NYC for Independence Day and there was a fair amount of transatlantic traffic. Ironic that Trent and I didn't realise one another was flying and here we were flying from London to the East Coast of North America all the while about 15km from one another in Melbourne, Australia. Shows how small VATSIM really is! Mark Richards (811451) Auckland, New Zealand
