I can't get started because it keeps saying that my callsign is not found and I need to connect to a vatsim server. Also, it says that it timed out before establishing a connection. I downloaded the entire package. I don't know what to do.

Hello,

your problem is twofold:

1) You need to update the serverlist

Start Servinfo, klick on the "IP" button and save the file "IPADDR.TXT" in the Squawkbox directory

2) The connect dialog

When you connect with the VATSIM network, leave the field "Roger Wilco Voice Server address" at the bottom of the dialog window blank. Just check the checkbox labelled "Use Roger Wilco Voice".

best regards,

Martin Georg

It says callsign not found! you must log in to a VATSIM server before connecting to a voice channel and also it keeps telling me WSAETIMEDOUT and that it timed out before a connection could be established.

Jared, it's AVC complaining that you are not logged on Vatsim with the same callsign you have entered in AVC.

To use AVC you must also be logged on Vatsim.

Verify that you are logged on with SquawkBox, and check if you can see yourself with ServInfo.

The connect with AVC using exactly the same callsign, preferably to the same Vatsim server as you used in SquawkBox.

Note that voice server and Vatsim (authentication) server are two different things. Which voice servers are operational is listed here:

WSAETIMEDOUT if caused almost all of the time by an out of date server list in SB. To update it start Serinfo and load Vatsim data, then click the box labeled IP just below the Vatsim logo save that file to your SB folder and you're off to the races.

Just a side note, when posting for help if you can stick to one post for your prolblem if makes it easier for us only having to follow whats been happening and what has been suggested to your.

If only an out of date IPADDR were his only issue!

As per other thread he is now sorted after a number of hours typing step by step each procedure.
