Romano Lara Posted July 16, 2009 at 05:13 AM Posted July 16, 2009 at 05:13 AM I finally decided to join VATUSA and be part of this great branch of VATSIM, and of course I'm looking to join my dream ARTCC; Houston. Though I have some question which is really confusing me ever since. 1) I am currently a S2-rated controller and have previous experiences in controlling Tower positions in; Thailand, Singapore, Australia & New Zealand. Forgive me but I have quite an obsession with Towers. 2) Given that I'm a S2 rated ATC, do I have to take the Basic Exam on the VATUSA website? If yes; okay. If no; how will I join the ARTCC I intend to? Not to worry though, I have already begun with steps 1 and 2 and now I'm holding on step 2; membership status. Though I have already chosen VATUSA as my Division in VATNA but I got this message in that form "You have been queued to be [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned to VATUSA. This [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ignment will take up to 12 hours, you will recieve an email when you have been [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned. Alternately you may return here in 12 hours and continue your registration. You may now close this window." Yet again, it added to my confusion. Perhaps, after getting verified I will be able to take the Basic Exam. Yes? Thanks for listening and I'm looking forward to control in USA! And I do believe that you will have to take, but since you are already and S2, it should be real easy. Hope that helps and welcome to VATUSA. Upon selecting an ARTCC, you will follow their training procedures to get on the scope. As an S-2 Tower Controller, you will quickly be approved to control tower at minor airports, then proceed from there to advance. Be sure to let one of us know if you have any questions!
