Darryl Roach 988606 Posted July 21, 2009 at 05:45 AM Posted July 21, 2009 at 05:45 AM Hey guys, Ever since I got my new computer and started running FSX on it, I have not been able to use TeamSpeak while flying/in-game. I've got Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, running FSX SP2 (if that matters). I use FSInn for my client. I think it's some kind of program priority thing but I can't fix it with the stuff I know. If I leave TS open when starting the game, I continue to receive just fine and can hear everyone, but I am unable to transmit on it without returning to the desktop. I've tried changing my PTT key, enabling TS on FSInn, trying the "Always On Top" setting in TS both ways but I just can't seem to fix it. I've also tried starting TS after I start the game, but that did not work either. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and knows a solution to it. I don’t normally run Teamspeak when flying on VATSIM. The few times I have it running, I don’t notice FSInn having an effect on it. However, Bill Casey says connecting to VATSIM and using Teamspeak does have an effect. He says to resolve the issue, use FSInn on a different mode (directsound/wave) from Teamspeak. If you have FSInn set for directsound, then use Teamspeak on wave. If you have FSInn set for Wave, use set Teamspeak on directsound. I’m sure that others who use Teamspeak will chime in (outside of VATSIM). Again, I don’t normally have it running while on VATSIM. Reviewing your message, your reference to enabling TS on FSInn might be some source of your problem or conflict. It sounds like you might think Teamspeak has something to do with your VATSIM connection for talking to the controllers. If you think that, you’re causing problems and conflict with your FSInn/VATSIM voice connection. You might best uninstall FSCopilot/FSInn and go to the FSInn help forum and follow the installation steps provided in the stickies. There’s no reference to Teamspeak or doing anything else to change the defaults of the voice configuration. Having Teamspeak installed isn’t a problem, but it’s not used for VATSIM. If you’re not having any problems with VATSIM, just trying to configure Teamspeak for some other purpose, then you can ignore my last point concerning going back to the default installation steps. Those default steps in the FSInn Help stickies are for getting your VATSIM sessions functioning properly. -- L. James -- L. D. Darryl Roach 988606 Posted July 21, 2009 at 03:11 PM Author Posted July 21, 2009 at 03:11 PM Thanks for the suggestions Larry, but it's just a TeamSpeak problem. FSInn connects to VATSIM just fine, I was referring to the TeamSpeak enabler/disabler option on its settings is all. The problem isn't just when I'm online, it's whenever the game is open at all. I did try switching TS to Wave sound like you said, leaving the game on DirectSound, but that didn't fix it. To me it seems like a program priority/on-top kind of thing. If the game is active/on-top, my TS PTT key doesn't transmit, but say if I just have the game on the Desktop and click the TS box outside of it, it starts working again. I'm trying to get it to work where I don't have to do that (works in full screen), and I know it can do it because I've already talked to some people who have it like that. Brendan Samson 1070087 Posted July 22, 2009 at 06:10 PM Posted July 22, 2009 at 06:10 PM Before loading up any vatism software, start teamspeak by right clicking it and hitting "Run as administrator".
Darryl Roach 988606 Posted July 23, 2009 at 04:06 AM Author Posted July 23, 2009 at 04:06 AM Thanks, Brendan, that worked. I should have known it was that, I have everything else already doing that and I guess I overlooked it thinking that I'd already set TS to do it, but sure enough, it was one of the few that must've slipped my mind.
