So Now what? Robert - You are a pilot/Observer only. You need to take the Student test to get rolling. Once you p[Mod - Happy Thoughts] the test with 80% or better, you can join an artcc.. Robert Barrett 879799 Posted August 30, 2005 at 11:52 PM Posted August 30, 2005 at 11:52 PM "New students testing for the Observer/Pilot (Student) rating, simply sign in and the test is available for you to take" But if you cant sign in you cant take a test. This is getting ridiclious, As I understand it, You sign up for vatsim which i did a long time ago, Sign up for VATUSA by changing your region. Then you recive an Email From VATUSA Welcoming you etc, They give you a p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word, which you use with your VATSIM ID. Now IF you Are part of the Region and you dont get an email with the p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word, You can use the Lost P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word feature. But Again It returns the message saying " That email is not register with VATUSA. Looks liek i am going to have to Email some Big Wigs Over there and get this Mess strighned out! Terry Kocher 919807 Posted August 31, 2005 at 12:22 AM Posted August 31, 2005 at 12:22 AM Deja Vu, I went through the exact same thing you did, it turned out I over looked how to select my region. I had selected North America but hadn't select the United States as my division, make sure you have done that.
Marc Sykes 852946 Posted August 31, 2005 at 01:02 AM Posted August 31, 2005 at 01:02 AM This has been happening on and off for the past few months. Apparently the problem lies in the connection (or, frequently, lack thereof) between the VATSIM and VATUSA servers. When you join the VATUSA division, which you accomplish from the main vatsim.net website, the VATSIM server is supposed to send a message to the VATUSA server to add you to the database. Lately, it's not always doing that, and/or the VATUSA server isn't processing it properly. I don't know the technical details. There are two guys who can and do solve this problem, usually on the individual level: Scott Bickford and Jeff Thomas. They both read this forum at least periodically, and hopefully will take a look at your problem once they see this thread. In the meantime, I'd recommend emailing the chief of the ARTCC you want to join; he can, in most cases, get you started with local training while you wait on VATUSA. Christopher Kahl 908183 Posted August 31, 2005 at 05:59 AM Posted August 31, 2005 at 05:59 AM As I understand it, You sign up for vatsim which i did a long time ago, Sign up for VATUSA by changing your region. When I joined VATUSA, I had to not only set my region as North America, but also sign up on the VATUSA website itself. Look for the join link over there, and best of luck Christopher Kahl (I1) Events Coordinator Albuquerque Air Route Traffic Control Center zabartcc.org

Marc Sykes 852946 Posted August 31, 2005 at 03:49 PM Posted August 31, 2005 at 03:49 PM Yup, you've done the right things and there's nothing else you can do at this point. Posts indicating otherwise are mistaken. The problem is with the servers and it is a well-known issue. I don't know why they haven't been able to fix it permanently, but I do expect that within the next few days someone will read the recent threads and fix the individual accounts that are having problems.
