George Tadlock 937622 Posted August 18, 2005 at 09:19 PM Posted August 18, 2005 at 09:19 PM I own a David Clark aviation grade headset that I used in my "Past Life" when I flew IFR... $715... top of the line. I purchased a "Audio Pilot" adapter (a small black box with jacks that accomodate the D/C audio and mike jacks) which is supposed to allow me to use this headset with my PC for flight sim. I also purchased a simple Plantronics headset ($26) made specifically for this type of FS application. Each time that I attempt to set up the D/C headset using SB, AVC or WINDOWS control panel I get no audio thru the headset... only the desktop speakers (there are two complete sets of jacks in the tower... one front, one back), and an error message saying that there is not enough difference between background noise level and the voice level... the room is dead silent! Then it tells me that I need to get a better mike!! Thet don't make one! The push-to-talk switch seems to work fine. The only problem with the Plantronics is the error message... the audio and voice seems to be alright. I think I am overlooking something and getting seriously frustrated. I would prefer the Doug Clark set. Somebody please help this newbie figure out the problem. I have done everything that I know how to do. Thanks so much, Rick Tadlock 937622
Thomas Dantona 940349 Posted September 26, 2005 at 01:20 AM Posted September 26, 2005 at 01:20 AM Well, I can't help you with your problem but I'd love to know where you got the adapter (black box) since I too own a DC headset. Perhaps I can help once I have one

Thomas Dantona 940349 Posted October 3, 2005 at 04:07 PM Posted October 3, 2005 at 04:07 PM Great, thanks. I'll let you know how I do! I have a brother-in-law that is an electronic engineer and has worked with aviation headsets - so if nothing else I KNOW he can build a box (I spoke with him this weekend.) I will look into the box you have then try my Brother-In-Law if that does not work. I can hook you up as well if you want afterwards - first let's see what the issue is.
