Eric Bocaneanu 906549 Posted August 5, 2009 at 11:40 PM Posted August 5, 2009 at 11:40 PM The CityHopping Bucharest-Budapest is complete and we are pretty happy with how it went. While the event started with some problems (one expected controller didn't show up, and runway in use due to winds were not the most efficient), we are pretty happy with how the event laid out. Turnout was wonderful, with 94 movements in Bucharest-Otopeni and 3 movements at Bucharest-Baneasa, with 5 movements at other Romanian airports. We'd like to thank you for participating, and looking forward to having you at Bucharest again the following days. Below we'd like to show you how it all looked from the controller's side at all positions. We'd like to point out that the radar client is an advanced clone of the Italian radar client Alenia used at ROMATSA Bucharest ACC, credits to Todor Atanasiov and Gergely Csernak. The controllers on duty were Ionut Constantin, Alin Fusaru, Eric Bocaneanu on the Romanian side of the event. On the Hungarian side I would like to thank Tamás Gyõrei for organizing this event with us. Now for the screenshots (scenery LROP2009 of RSDT and Andrei Visan). Departure MAH851 at Budpaest-Ferihegy First arrival flow at Bucharest ACC via TEGRI LAMIT TUSET (notice the custom SCL, FHI and popup windows) Bucharest TMA orderly arrival flow with few departures (exists via NILOV) entry via TUSET). Notice the prohibited airspace over Bucharest LR P1 of a different color (just as the real Alenia Radar). Otopeni Tower with tower view. ATIS on 118.5 maintained by this position fully automated, including full audio via this console. Departure flow at Otopeni Ground Control. Thirteen aircraft on the ground with two more aircraft on final. Checking the TMA radar for traffic on final. Seems we are able to depart the MAH858 currently on Delta: "Enter, backtrack and lineup runway 26L, traffic at 9 miles for runway 26L." Notice the traffic turning on final as strobe lights seen outside to the southwest of the runway. Bucharest ACC later needs to use Mach restriction technique to maintain separation between descending aircraft inbound TUSET. Bucharest TMA unnecessary holding at STJ due to unidentified aircraft flying in Bucharest TMA. Three turning on final. 26L runway shortened due to WIP. Three HEAVIES seen from the tower cab. Two MD11 looking for pushback. Romania on VATSIM as seen on vRoute. Third departure peak late in the night. Notice the two aircraft on final as seen outside, the traffic around Apron 2, and the ground radar view. Notice here the aircraft on NDB approach runway 25 at Baneasa opposite with descending traffic on STAR downwind for 26L for Otopeni. Both can be seen outside and on TMA picture. MAH851 lands on runway 26L vacates here via G, looking for stand [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ignment. Once again, thank you for joining.
