Mark Carter 1124490 Posted September 6, 2009 at 05:20 PM Posted September 6, 2009 at 05:20 PM I have been reading all these Forums but they don't answer the questions I have. I literally do not even know where to start. I downloaded the VRC 1.2.1. It works.I want to do something in Kansas City Missouri whether it be KMCI KMKC or Center. Somewhere it talked about watching another controller work before you start. How do I do this? I just feel like the website doesn't explain this well enough on how to get started for a first time person.
Sebastien Bartosz Posted September 6, 2009 at 05:23 PM Posted September 6, 2009 at 05:23 PM (edited) Before saying that the website doesnt have enough information for a new person, first of all, how did we all start then? Second, why dont you do a bit of research to learn observe another controller. Its on the VRC website. You have to configure your scope. I suggest requesting training from the ARTCC you would like to control in, the first thing you will do is configure your scope and get the right files. Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted September 6, 2009 at 05:25 PM Posted September 6, 2009 at 05:25 PM vatusa.net read over the training material. and if you havent already be [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned to the ZKC ARTCC, or signed up to control in VATUSA for that matter. make sure to do so. the instructors will get you going. remember, there is training involved, its not just download the software and start controlling right away. theres training and tests involved before you even get to control. Sebastien Bartosz Posted September 6, 2009 at 05:33 PM Posted September 6, 2009 at 05:33 PM Sebastian, Meds I've already told you Ernesto !!! They let me out a long time ago ! No, seriously, why do I snap at people? When they say comments, or complain etc. without doing their "homework" before posting. Why should we make an effort answering them when they make no effort? Mark Carter 1124490 Posted September 6, 2009 at 05:45 PM Author Posted September 6, 2009 at 05:45 PM Well I am sorry I am "not up to par" on this. I am trying to figure it out. I have read the 'new atc start here' and did all of it and signed up for VATSIM and did everything it told me to do. But I was not sure where to go after I did this. Ruth McTighe 824054 Posted September 7, 2009 at 08:23 AM Posted September 7, 2009 at 08:23 AM Go to this page http://www.metacraft.com/VRC/docomeentation.shtml on the VRC website and download the Observers guide. That has a walkthrough to enable you to get VRC up and running. You'll need to get the sector files (which show the airports, waypoints etc for the area you're interested in) from the vatusa.net website.
