Aharon Dayan Posted September 7, 2009 at 12:51 PM Posted September 7, 2009 at 12:51 PM Shalom and greetings all, I am wondering what is the daily schedule of appearances of ATCs of all major Canadian airports so that I can enjoy flying over Canada? Major airports include CYYZ, Montreal Pierre Trudeau, Halifax, Calgary, Vancouver, Ottowa, Quebec City airport, etc. Thanks, Aharon
Danny Burtch 816098 Posted September 7, 2009 at 04:03 PM Posted September 7, 2009 at 04:03 PM Nothing is scheduled on a daily basis. Typically you will find major airports staffed in the evenings during the week and most of the day on weekends. When major events are scheduled then you can obviously expect ATC to be online. Board of Governors Matthew Cianfarani Posted September 8, 2009 at 04:01 PM Board of Governors Posted September 8, 2009 at 04:01 PM ATC is generally unpredictable, however your best bet would be evenings and weekends around 6-11 PM EST, there seems to be a lot of activity from ZUL, ZQM, ZWG, and ZVR around that time. If you are however, looking for a controller to be online at a specific time, go to http://www.vatcan.org/about/staff.php and send an email to the FIR Chief and Events Director for whatever airport you desire. We would be pleased to set up a control slot. Matthew Cianfarani Vice President , Technology VATSIM Board of Governors
Nehal Kanetkar 1068642 Posted September 10, 2009 at 02:29 AM Posted September 10, 2009 at 02:29 AM It seems as though CZYZ has been getting a little cold in the last few months . I have noticed that a whole lot of other FIR's have made more of a presence. If you want ATC in CYYZ, I would also try for weekends, as a lot of people are free then as well. Yeah, I have only really been on in CZYZ so I wasn't sure about the others . Maybe we can get all the Canadian FIR's on for the CTP, that would be fun for pilots and controllers. Three pilots from the virtual airline have signed up and more are projected to sign up. Thank you very much for your attention in this matter. Please correct me if I am not right. 7 pm to 9pm Atlantic time means 8 pm to 10 pm EST time zone? What airports does Moncton cover please so that I can make waypoint routes for solo flights into Moncton's airports on Monday nights this Monday or next Monday? Should be good flight viewing snowy Canadian landscape in winters!!! Aharon

Aharon Dayan Posted January 24, 2010 at 12:32 AM Author Posted January 24, 2010 at 12:32 AM Shalom Tim, Since you are on control duty for Moncton every Monday from 6 pm to 8 pm est, it is too late for me to take off and fly into your airports as I would likely to arrive after 8 pm EST. As promised to participate on your Monday event, I plan to take off around 7 pm EST this Monday the 25th from your airport CYQM for a two hour flight to CYYZ. See you this Monday night!!! Tim Murphy Posted January 25, 2010 at 06:23 PM Posted January 25, 2010 at 06:23 PM Hi guys! Typically our controllers stay on longer, and begin earlier. If we see you flying in and no one is online yet, we will jump on early to guide you in! Check out our website: http://czqm.vatcan.org If you are unable to log in while ATC is online, and you have questions about the airports or procedures, feel free to post your questions here! I hope Montreal and Boston Centre's are online tonight! Tim Help a newbie! http://czqm.ca QM/QX Instructor
Aharon Dayan Posted January 26, 2010 at 03:21 PM Author Posted January 26, 2010 at 03:21 PM you have questions about the airports or procedures, feel free to post your questions here! Tim As promised, I flew from CYQM to CYYZ last night at 7 pm est departure. Please thank CYQM controller for me as he was very nice and kind coordinating my IRF clearance request and take off despite dealing with Vatsim servers' malfunction problems and his radar was not working properly. I have question about CYQM. The Vatsim or VATCAN controllers at CYQM ask for taxi to runway 12 via taxiway A but in my FSX default CYQM, there is no taxiway A. There is taxiway D from terminal to runway 12 which involves crossing another runway. I am told that in real life, CYQM has new buildings and new taxiways. I am told that FSX and FS9 have outdated buildings and outdated runways. Would any of you know if there is any update of new CYQM for FSX default CYQM so that I can properly carry out controllers' request to taxi from terminal to runway 12 using taxiway A that does not exist on my FSX? Thanks, Aharon
