This Sunday you can bring your turboprops and small jets out of the hangar to fly yourself from Wellington or Auckland return while stopping by New Plymouth, Rotorua or Gisborne. You should beable to complete a trip from Auckland or Wellington and return in 2.5 to 3 hours depending on your aircraft type. In the real world these routes are mostly operated by Air New Zealand Link and Eagle Air.

  • Departure Time: Sunday 13th September 2009 1900 NZST
  • Flight Time: 1 to 1.5 hours one way/2 to 3 hours return.
  • Flight Plan:

  • Priority ATC Positions:
    NZAA_TWR Auckland Tower
    NZWN_TWR Wellington Tower
    NZNP_TWR New Plymouth Tower
    NZRO_TWR Rotorua Tower
    NZGS_TWR Gisborne Tower
    NZAA_APP Auckland Control
    NZWN_APP Wellington Control
    NZCH-R_CTR/NZCH-T_CTR/NZCH-B_CTR Enroute Control

Note: If you're providing ATC on the night, please give priority to these positions. They are not an exclusive list, but they are the ones that will see the most action this Sunday.

To reserve a particular ATC position, please post a message to that effect (including the times you expect to be online) in this thread. If possible, also book your position using vroute - large numbers of bookings in vroute attract additional traffic.

  • Late-comers/Shorter Alternative: Late-comers or people who want an alternative to a return flight should aim on flying the designated sectors to create as much traffic as possible.

  • New Plymouth, Gisborne and Rotorua airport have no ILS. Check out this excellent tutorial written by Steve Hall about Non-Precision approaches..

If you have any questions please feel free to email me, or reply to this thread.
