sound reducing frames

just noticed something today. when i mute FS, or if i go to another window like Activesky or firefox, my frames will jump up a good 6 - 10 frames. (running FS in windowed mode)

 

when the frame rates are already low, thats a major boost

 

so how can i take advantage of that, other then muting FS?

 

sound drivers are updated and current. any other way?

 

FS 2004

Compaq Presario V4000 laptop

2gb ram

[Mod - lovely stuff]py video card

Soundmax Digital sound card

Win XP

 

Offline, no issues, itll run FS9 at 20 - 30fps with ease.

Online, frames drop by 50%, so taking advantage of those extra 6 - 10fps would help
