Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted October 15, 2009 at 06:52 AM Posted October 15, 2009 at 06:52 AM trying to link my laptop to an old pc i have laying around that i want to use as storage. ive read on a few websites that i can use a router to link them, i just happen to have a spare so heres what ive done. connected both laptop and pc to the routers 1 and 2 port, nothing connected to the modem port as its just being used to link the pc's not get online. ive run the network setup wizard on both pc's, made sure both are connecting to the same network, and confirmed via the routers DHCP client list, both show connected. ive also enabled file sharing on both laptop and pc. ive also made sure both subnet masks match. now heres the problem, i cant get them to talk to each other. theyre talking to the router, but not linking up to each other. neither is showing in my group connections any ideas? ive checked both laptop and pc firewalls and both allow file sharing, ive even tried disabling both temporarily to see if theyd connect (back on now), ive also disabled the routers firewall (not connected to the net anyway) ive also disabled the WAN ping block which was on by default, its off now. router is a Belkin Wireless G + Mimo V3000 router
