Kano FIR Open Staff Position: Deputy FIR Director

The Kano FIR in Nigeria, Central Africa is currently hiring staff members to help us prepare the FIR for VATSIM full time service.

 

We are looking for highly motivated individuals to helps us bring the Kano FIR fully online in Central Africa. This FIR is very popular for VATSIM pilots. Our mission is to bring this FIR online regularly with highly professional ATC service that our pilots expect. Many who fly into this FIR have real world experience and are very professional. Our goal is to provide top notch ATC service for Nigeria that pilots will come to expect.

 

Deputy FIR Director:

 

The ideal candidate shall possess a VATSIM rating of at least C1, have at least 1 year of VATSIM experience and a very clean VATSIM record. Additionally, the candidate shall be well versed with ICAO docomeent 4444. Experience controlling within the African Continent preferred but not required. Previous VATSIM staff positions, real world experience preferred, but not required. Transfer to the Region/Division is required.

 

Essential Admin Skills:

 

-Ability to create and maintain charts, AIRAC information, NOTAMS and FIR airspace utilization and procedures.

-Basic HTML, PHP, and FTP

-Excel, Word (or equivilent programmes) and graphics editing. Video production a plus.

-Strong written and oral communications with English language.

 

Duties:

 

The DFD will [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist the FIR Director with the following:

 

-All controllers report to the Deputy FIR Director.

-The Deputy Director is the primary contact for all controller/pilot inquires and feedback.

-Developing and publishing current charts, NOTAMS, LOA's and FIR policies.

-Maintains the Controller Rosters, training and exam schedules. Books instructors for exams and training.

-[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist the Divisional and Regional instructors with mentoring and [Mod - Happy Thoughts]essment of new and developing controllers.

-Maintains agressive and active online controlling within the FIR. Maintains active communications in the VATCAF Disussion forum.

-Moderates the Kano FIR Discussion Forum.

-Ensures consistant regular airport staffing and FIR supervision.

-[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist the FIR Director with promoting FIR events and new controller recruitment.

-Provides monthly FIR progress reports to the FIR Director.

-Refers conflicts and issues to the VATCAF Director/DCRM.

 

Expect to spend 4-8 hours per week on projects offline to keep the FIR up to date.
