This Sunday our SNO (Sunday Night Operations) is flying in the North of the North. (The North of the North Island)

 

Depart Auckland (or for a real test to the Controllers, Ardmore) and fly to Whangarei, Kerikeri or Kaitaia.

 

The routes out of Auckland are serviced daily by Air New Zealand Link (Eagle Airways) Beech 1900D Turboprops so would suit any other turboprop, light jet, prop or Helicopter. None of the airports, except Auckland, are suitable for medium to heavy jets.

 

Each day, a number of charters operate to the north from Ardmore Airfield. IFR departures out of Ardmore require IFR clearance from Auckland Control (NZAA_APP) before startup.

 

Only Auckland has a tower, so uncontrolled aerodrome procedures apply at Ardmore, Whangarei, Kerikeri and Kaitaia.
