Todor Atanasov 878664 Posted November 21, 2009 at 08:47 PM Posted November 21, 2009 at 08:47 PM Well the first thing coming in my head is the procedure when there is a Air-ground communication failure. From ICAO doc.4444 17.3 b) i) unless otherwise prescribed on the basis of regional air navigation agreement, maintain the last [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned speed and level, or minimum flight altitude if higher, for a period of 20 minutes following the aircraft’s failure to report its position over a compulsory reporting point and thereafter adjust level and speed in accordance with the filed flight plan The pilot also can adjust its level in accordance with the filed flight plan, after going to UNICOM, as there is no ATC. Also keep something in mind, a pilot can filed FL360 for final, but cleared FL340 due traffic/weather and so on. When I see that traffic and I see cleared FL340 and filed FL360 I know that the pilot may ask higher level from me, so I can do some plan how to deal with it in advance. Again I really don't see the big fuss here. I can live both ways, altho I prefer the flight plan data not to be change (except when amended). But again as Kevin said either way people have to adapt their controlling styles to the clients limitations. Karl Kornel 964857 Posted November 23, 2009 at 04:04 AM Posted November 23, 2009 at 04:04 AM Wow, I think this thread might have gotten a little bit out of control here! I think that in the end, it comes down to two things. First, I was wrong when I thought that this was a bug. That was because I mis-read the docomeentation when I first read it. From what I can see, it appears that this is not a bug. The behavior might be unusual to some people, but that does not make it a bug! Second, I think that any discussion of F5's current behavior, VRC, the protocol, and the network is best kept somewhere else. They are related topics, yes, but they are still separate topics. So, given that, here is what I would like to request this: Leave the current F5 behavior alone. Add a new key combination, Shift-F5, the performs the action that is performed by F5 in VRC. #2 would not be something unusual, actually. F4 is a good example: To get the behavior of F4 in VRC, you need to use Shift-F4 in EuroScope. This request is, in my opinion, either an enhancement request or a low-priority bug to be fixed after the current release. A. Karl Kornel - vZID C1, FE, and Mentor Smoke Bomb!
