Sunday Night Operations Sunday 22 November 2009 - The Wine Trail

Back by popular demand

New Zealand is a land like no other. New Zealand wine is an experience like no other. Our special combination of soil, climate and water, our innovative pioneering spirit and our commitment to quality all come together to deliver pure, intense and diverse experiences. In every gl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] of New Zealand Wine is a world of pure discovery.

New Zealand cuisine draws inspiration from the traditional kitchens of France and Italy, as well as the exotic dishes of Asia and the Pacific Rim. Wine styles have evolved to compliment this extensive menu. There are bright and zesty wines such as Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling for fresh and subtly spiced dishes, while complex, mellow Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blends and Pinot Noir offer a timeless marriage with the cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ical dishes of Europe.

Tonight's flights visit 5 out of our 10 largest wine areas:

  • Gisborne
  • Hawkes Bay
  • Wairarapa
  • Marlborough
  • Nelson

Join us on an expedition to these diverse regions and interesting airports.

This event is the perfect one to fly between a number of different airports in a short space of time and practice your non-precision approaches. Read up on them before hand on the superb Non Precision Approach Guide written by VATNZ Member Steve Hall.

Each leg should be between 30 to 45 minutes depending on aircraft type, meaning you should able to fly between all the ports in less than three hours.

  • Event Times: Sunday 22nd November 2009 1900-2200 NZDT / 0600-0900 UTC / 1700-2000 AEDT
  • Flight Time: approx. 2.5 - 3hrs to complete all the legs
  • Flight Plan Route:

NOTE: start the evening at ANY of the five airports
