Hi,i've got two more or less small problems. when i start Squawkbox there appear some popup windows...the first one asks about player4 name and Connection type..the second one is searching for a server and so on...and the last one asks if i want to "Join" the "SBRealy - Squawkbox 2 Session". So if i click onto "Join"...there appears another window which says : "Critical error : could not open file icao.dat" well i clicked on ok..and Squawkbox still started...and the other error was as i wanted to fill the flightplan in Squawkbox..i went to the pull down menu and clicked onto "File Flight Plan"..and i got another error..this time : " You are missing the file : csl_icao.csv. Aircraft will not be shown properly". i clicked on ok,and i could fill my flightplan.

Well, can somebody help me with that. I couldn't start a server yet,to see if the aircrafts are propoerly shown, but i think these two errors aren't good and i also think that i've done it right as i was editing the FS9 file and put the CSL planes into it...

Can someone help me and say what i've done wrong, and how to fix it? Thanks

Lukas

Emmm... Have you read any of the tutorials..? The first two dialogs are not errors nor are they problems. In the first one you are required to enter your name as to be shown in the sim's multiplayer session and in the second one you're supposed to find the sim's/SBRelay's multiplayer session and connect to it.

You should take a serious look at the VATSIM Pilot Resource Center.

yes i know, but i meant the two errors which appeared...one says that "icao.dat" could not be found...and the other one says that " You are missing the file : csl_icao.csv. Aircraft will not be shown properly".

well the first one appears as i wanted to "Join" the "SBRealy - Squawkbox 2 Session" and the other one as i wanted to fill the flightplan in Squawkbox..i went to the pull down menu and clicked onto "File Flight Plan"..and there it was..

has anyone a solution for that?

Hello,

the two files reported missing are normally installed with Squawkbox.

Perhaps a simple reinstall of Squawkbox solves your problem?

Usually these errors are caused by running the squawkbox program outside of its folder. Make sure that what you are clicking on is a shortcut and not, as I have seen on many occ[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ion, the exe dragged onto the desktop.

This trick works for some as well for the unable to find csl_icao.csv error on startup.

Look for that file in your SB folder and copy it here

FS9\Aircraft

FS9\Aircraft\CSL

Let us know how you make out.

Hello Lukas,

I am having the exact same problem but I am not sure what to do now. I tried the same thing that you did and it's still not working. Do I copy both file to every single folder in FS2004?. The other thing I am not sure is where to install this software. I have it here.. C:\program file , is this where I am supposed to install it in. I am not very good with computers and your help or anyone's help will be very much appreciated. I don't know what else to do. I am dying to use the SB. If you could help me, I will appreciate it.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Pablo Vazquez

hi Pablo,

well i took the two files "icao.dat" and "csl_icao.csv" (which you can find in the Squawkbox folder after installation. and then i copied them into everz subfolder of fs9. that means into the /Aircraft folder and thje /gauges folder,/modules and so on... put these two files also into the main folder of fs9 and into the folder /Aircraft/csl . That was all i've done. if it's still not working, copy the files into every sub - sub -sub..folder of FS9,but i think it will be running without that. So only the two files into the main fs9 folder the /Aircraft and /Aircraft/csl folder and all the subfolders of fs9 (Fs2004).

--software --- do you mean the Vatsim Software? if yes,..well,Squawkbox can be installed wherever you want. SBRelay can be installed into the Fs9 folder (but it mustn't) ,also FSUiP. AVC can also be installed wherever you want to.

Don't forget to edit tour fs9.cfg file.

For more detailed information, please read the topics in the "Pilot Resource Center".

i hope i could help you,
