Lee James Posted December 13, 2009 at 08:57 PM Posted December 13, 2009 at 08:57 PM Hello to our Friends in South East Asia! Just a Heads Up here as we are looking for ATC .... SATURDAY-SUNDAY 30th-31st JANUARY 2010 Departures from 14:30z Takeoffs from Chep Lap Kok and Kai Tak Airports! Welcome to the fourth of our ever popular OVERNIGHTER Fly-In events - and the first for the new year of 2010! For this one, we are taking on a truly devastating flight! We leave the wonderful city lights of Hong Kong, now part of The Peoples Republic Of China for the non-stop overnight flight back to London Heathrow (EGLL). This flight will replicate the British Airways real world BA026 service that leaves Hong Kong at 15:25z (23:25 local time in Hong Kong) and then makes the 13 hour 25 minute haul back to the UK, flying almost all of the route from takeoff to touchdown, in total darkness! This one will be a real challenge for all our pilots who take part, both veteran long haulers and the new flyers who are just joining us for the first time. With the release of the highly realistic FlyTampa Hong Kong scenery, as well as the famous 9Dragons freeware Kai Tak and the very excellent new release of ImagineSim's Chep Lap Kok Airport, in addition to Thomas Kwong's freeware Chep Lap Kok International, we will be providing departure slots from both Chep Lap Kok International (VHHH) and the former airport of Hong Kong Kai Tak (VHHX) since the latter holds a special place for Flight Simulator Pilots the world over and should be included in this event. And now that we have payware and freeware high quality versions of both Chep Lap Kok International Airport and Kai Tak International Airport, the time is right to fly this epic trip! With the real world service departing at 15:25z, we will schedule departures from 14:30z to 17:30z from both airports, to give the guys at both VATSIM Hong Kong and IVAO the chance to support our efforts by providing ATC out of this complex Asian country at a reasonable hour for them. Then its looking forward to the long, dark haul back to London Heathrow Airport in the UK with changes in RVSM at various places along the way, before we can hopefully get the VATSIM and IVAO UK boys out of bed for an early arrival! Mark your calenders and free up this weekend! Its gonna be tough....! Can you stay awake....? We'll see....! ********************************************* Our great friends in Hong Kong, we'll have departures and we need ATC to get us all out! Because of the time difference and getting ATC out of HKG with VATSIM Hong Kong, without keeping you up till all hours, we will be starting departures from 14:30Z out of both Kai Tak and Chep Lap Kok, with arrivals into the UK around 04:45z. The flight is officially 13 hours and 25 minutes but some will take longer and we have also restricted the pilots into planning properly so as not to arrive before 04:45z due to "noise" regulations. Any early arrivals will have to hold! This is therefore a polite, please, please request for anyone mad enough to be up this late on a Saturday night, to get us all safely out of both Kai Tak and Chep Lap Kok! So far we have 35 sign ups and its only been out a week and they are still coming! We could expect up to 70 pilots! Any help you could be would be wonderful! I will post the complete slot list for both airport departures in due course. Please feel free to move this message as befits your forum. Thank you for your time and effort, regards, Lee James Event organiser Training Captain 747 Fleet British Airways Virtual Lee James Senior Captain British Airways Virtual Pilot of SPEEDBIRD 9 DELTA VICTOR (BAW9DV)

Reece Hunter Posted December 15, 2009 at 06:49 AM Posted December 15, 2009 at 06:49 AM If you ever swing by the Philippines, let us know and we will support your event. As it is, I will put this in our events calendar and staff anyway in support as we often have pilots fly out of Manila (RPLL) to HongKong. Enjoy! ___________________ Reece Hunter vACC Philippines Chief ___________________ Reece Hunter vACC Philippines Chief

Lee James Posted January 31, 2010 at 11:55 AM Author Posted January 31, 2010 at 11:55 AM To the VATSIM Hong Kong Controllers last night.... A HUGE thank you to you all for your great service out of Hong Kong last night! Most of our pilots made it safely across the wilds of Russia and China and into Europe and down at Heathrow. Our event was a huge success and much of that was down to your great efforts for us at Chek Lap Kok and Kai Tak last night. From the Board and Management Team at British Airays Virtual, thank you very much for all your hard work.
