John Raymond 1101252 Posted December 21, 2009 at 06:16 PM Posted December 21, 2009 at 06:16 PM Hello All, I hope everyone is having a great holiday season. While I'm still kinda new to VatSim, I've been flying simulators for a while, mainly X-Plane. I recently had a thought. Why not have an Air Defense Fighter Wing, like many of the Air National Guard Units. They can provide "security service" to the ATC's, and it will add a bit of a scenario to the virtual world. Normally when I log one, I fly an F-15 out of the MA-ANG base. I let BOS CTR know I'm parked with engines warm at the ramp. One control plans to use this service to chase down unidentified a/c, and rouge newbies . This is just a thought, and I'm curious to hear what you folks think. Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted December 21, 2009 at 06:30 PM Posted December 21, 2009 at 06:30 PM thatd be against the CoC and is why VSOA members are held to strict regulation. suggest joining the vUSAF or one of the other VSOA's to get a further understanding of how it all works
John Raymond 1101252 Posted December 21, 2009 at 06:44 PM Author Posted December 21, 2009 at 06:44 PM Thanks for the reference. I didn't even know that vUSAF existed. I just noticed its not for X-plane, though

Kyle Ramsey 810181 Posted December 24, 2009 at 04:58 AM Posted December 24, 2009 at 04:58 AM It appears John only has XPlane. However, VATSIM makes a perfect platform to mix these two products to a large extent and with M$ not producing anymore XP becomes one of the best developed alternative platforms that continues to add features, so I think all of us need to look for those places XPlane users can be incorporated into VSOA's like the various virtual USAF's (we have 2 or 3 at any given time). I would bet a beef enchilada with green dinner at Sadie's in Albuquerque any VSOA that added XPlane would add 20 new pilots in a month from XP users. They have carriers, they have fast movers, they have trash haulers, they have helos, all with reported better flight models than thing us M$FS'ers get out of our product (I don't own XP myself). Tim Murphy Posted January 28, 2010 at 07:44 PM Posted January 28, 2010 at 07:44 PM Hey John - that idea sounds very kewl. I would hate to put more stress on a newbie by scrambling a fighter jet after him! But the alternative which is joining a VA sounds neat. Let me know how you make out with it all! Come up to Moncton FIR and do a little training excersise soon! Tim Help a newbie! http://czqm.ca QM/QX Instructor
