Ron Priever 819415 Posted December 25, 2009 at 02:16 PM Posted December 25, 2009 at 02:16 PM Greetings all......happy hollidays Is there a way to edit the ACSim situation files to (virtually) indicate that each airplane can receive voice. This is not a major issue, but it would eliminate each plane's data tag showing the "?" after their call sign. Otherwise, it is necessary to hit F9 + V for every aircraft, everytime the sim is run. Like I said, this is not a deal breaker, but more of an annoyance. Many thanks Ron
Harold Rutila 974112 Posted December 25, 2009 at 05:43 PM Posted December 25, 2009 at 05:43 PM Hey Ron, Yes, there is. You have to add a /V/ (or /R/ or /T/ depending on what you want it to display) in the comment line of the situation file. I make all of my situation files manually by following the format below, although if you use Access or Excel to make them (or the program itself), just make sure you enter one of those designators in the comment field. SCX217,0000,38.81052,-103.62211,260,16000,300,1800 I,B738/L,458,0,0,0,0,KCOS,0,0,0 HGO /V/ < Let's say you use ACSim to make the situation files and forgot to do the F9 thing. Just save the file, close ACSim, and navigate to the situation file's folder. Open the file, then add the /V/ to the bottom of each flight plan. Ron Priever 819415 Posted December 25, 2009 at 11:03 PM Author Posted December 25, 2009 at 11:03 PM Thanks, Harold......that seemed easy enough, until I actually tried modifying the files. Now, when I start the ACSim program and open an aircraft file, the response is "Server error....Invalid Callsign". Here are the contents of one of the files. Perhaps you can spot the error: DAL1423,7001,33.989165,-84.894532,135,14000,330,1500 I,MD88,455,KORD,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ TRS711,7002,34.081052,-85.016312,135,14000,330,1500 I,B712,455,KMEM,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ TRS172,7003,34.189433,-85.185363,135,14000,330,1500 I,B737,455,KDFW,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ UAL893,7004,34.295186,-85.338964,135,14000,330,1500 I,B735,455,KORD,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ MEP1797,7005,34.411195,-85.486781,135,14000,330,1500 I,B735,455,KMKE,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ DAL523,7006,34.526988,-85.609612,135,14000,330,1500 I,B763,455,KLAX,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ DAL2115,7007,34.708165,-85.857325,135,14000,330,1500 I,MD88,455,KMCI,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ ASQ211,7112,34.898794,-86.098397,135,14000,330,1500 I,CRJ2,455,KBNA,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ ASQ312,7113,35.158849,-86.472005,135,14000,330,1500 I,CRJ2,455,KHSV,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ CHQ5422,7010,35.364770,-86.756751,135,14000,330,1500 I,E170,455,KSTL,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ DAL795,7011,35.479161,-86.905777,135,14000,330,1500 I,B752,455,KDEN,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ DAL1471,7012,35.613450,-87.048316,135,14000,330,1500 I,B752,455,KSFO,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ TRS791,7013,35.764831,-87.250830,135,14000,330,1500 I,B737,455,KMSP,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ ACA1047,7014,35.901787,-87.435703,135,14000,330,1500 I,A320,455,CYYZ,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/ BTA2744,7015,36.021922,-87.588488,135,14000,330,1500 I,E145,455,KCLE,0,0,300,KATL,0,0, RMG3 /V/
Ross Carlson Posted December 26, 2009 at 01:40 AM Posted December 26, 2009 at 01:40 AM Perhaps the blank line after the first aircraft's remarks? Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
Ron Priever 819415 Posted December 26, 2009 at 03:41 PM Author Posted December 26, 2009 at 03:41 PM Perhaps the blank line after the first aircraft's remarks? Nope, that's not it either. I tried removing the blank line and running everything together but I'm getting the same response. I'll just get the original files and re-install them. I'll let you guys know when I do so, and perhaps you can walk me thru this and get it corrected. Thanks, Ron

No, I have a PC (using Vista). I wouldnt even begin to know how to use a Mac or Linux.
Ron Priever 819415 Posted December 27, 2009 at 02:13 PM Author Posted December 27, 2009 at 02:13 PM I just got the original files again. I could send them to you, along with my attempts at modifying them. PM me with your e-mail addresses, if you want. Ron
Harold Rutila 974112 Posted December 27, 2009 at 09:10 PM Posted December 27, 2009 at 09:10 PM Whoops. I forgot to check back in here, sorry. I'll just run through a few really simple things here. I've discovered that sometimes really simple otherwise unrelated (in reference to the error message) things cause these errors: 1.) Did you save the file as .acs and not .txt? This is really basic, but I'm not sure if it could create this problem. 2.) I'm noticing only 10 fields (text between commas) in the second line for each aircraft. All of my aircraft have 11 fields. Add a 0 after the last comma on the 2nd line for each aircraft. DAL1423,7001,33.989165,-84.894532,135,14000,330,1500 I,MD88,455,KORD,0,0,300,KATL,0,0,0 RMG3 /V/ Try that, and if it doesn't work I'll have to do some more thinking . A lot of times the error messages don't always relate to the actual problem but rather a formatting issue.
Harold Rutila 974112 Posted August 6, 2010 at 03:54 PM Posted August 6, 2010 at 03:54 PM I don't know why this happened, but I'm getting the same error that Ron had above. I have no clue why that would be, as nothing has changed since I made the file.
Harold Rutila 974112 Posted August 18, 2010 at 12:29 AM Posted August 18, 2010 at 12:29 AM Make sure the encoding on files is ANSI and not UNICODE or anything else. I don't know how that got changed in my files, but I changed them all back and now they work.
