Can someone tell me flight examples that will be not to hard to fly in the UK VFR? From airport A to airport B. I am absolutly new to the aviation world and although I can follow the basics I want to do it as real as possible. I have read the PRC about 5 times. Also where can I find VFR charts for the UK?

All the best

Thanks

Hi Manual,

Welcome to VATSIM. Good to hear you wish to learn from the bottom. Regarding VFR charts as far as I know unlike the USA there are no VFR charts online for free throughout Europe so current ones can either be purchased or old second hand ones from ebay are usually fine for VATSIM. Regarding a quick flight, I'd pick somewhere away from a busy airport eg: Shoreham (EGKA) as often well manned direct to Lydd (EGMD) below 5000ft to keep outside overlying controlled airspace. Have a look at the VATSIM-UK website and forums for more information. Particularly the How To guides by Bill Casey, deceptively simple but very useful.

Hi,

Yes and no. The semicircular rule applies inside controlled airspace only. Outside controlled airspace the quadrantal rule applies ie:

000-089 odd levels

090-179 odd level+500

180-269 even levels

270-359 even levels +500

The semicircular rule is applied inside controlled airspace where 000-179 is odd and 180-359 is even.

As a side note but as nearby France, Spain, Italy and Portugal operate a north-south system so their levels are odd from 090-269 and even from 270-089 degrees.

Hi Manuel,

I have also just applied to join the CiX VFR Club, then started to read their manual and thought I needed to join here first.

I am also based in the UK and would say Bournemouth to Southampton would be a good flight for you and the charts are free to download from here:

good luck.

My enthusiasm exceeds my ability.

hope to see you airborne at some point.

I found this forum first; then found what looks to be the more active forum, I think Wycliffe is referring to.
