Jackson Harding Posted December 27, 2009 at 01:50 AM Posted December 27, 2009 at 01:50 AM With the approval of the BoG VATPAC will shortly be commencing a two month trial of two new Upper Information Regions to allow for greater en-route control services throughout Australian domestic airspace. Two new Upper Information Regions will be established in the YMMM and YBBB FIRs respectively to provide en-route services above FL245. It is anticipated that these two stations will provide en-route coverage over much of the continent and enhance the provision of ATC services to all pilots operating in Australian airspace. The two stations will appear on the network as YMMM_FSS and YBBB_FSS respectively. VATPAC Staff and the BoG will be monitoring the impacts, if any, the use of FSS for these positions has on the network. The VATPAC forums have the official VATPAC NOTAM detailing the full procedures to be followed. As a service to all VATPAC Staff have also compiled updates to both VATSpy and ServInfo that display the new VATPAC sectors that have recently come into effect as well as the UIRs. As an additional service to the VATSIM community we have also included the new sectors introduced by our sister division VATNZ earlier in 2009. Any international pilots visiting Australia or NZ and using these two data programs will find these updates invaluable. An update for Dolomynum is still under development.
