Haris Velic 902353 Posted March 4, 2011 at 10:09 AM Posted March 4, 2011 at 10:09 AM Hi! I am trying to find NAT routes and complete a flight plan from US to Europe. Currently i am flying PMDG 747-400 and use FMC all the time. The problem is to find the route over atlantic. How do you guys do when crossing two continents? Where do you find the route? The best solution would be to import a generated flight plan into FMC, in such case which program/addon do you use? Thanx !

DANIEL ROE 1010937 Posted March 4, 2011 at 11:05 PM Posted March 4, 2011 at 11:05 PM Have a look here as well Haris... http://www.vatsim-uk.org/oceanic/index.php Oceanic requires some extra skills than normal and if you get a change in routing from ATC, will you know how to enter the new waypoints. Having them entered into the FMC automatically is all well and good for convenience but you should know how to do it manually as well before making the crossing. Good luck! Kyprianos Biris Posted March 9, 2017 at 08:52 PM Posted March 9, 2017 at 08:52 PM http://www.blackswan.ch/nat is a good one too. This site seems semi-active nowadays. It displays the weather charts available but not active NAT tracks or their graphic representation on the map. Anyone know where I can find the daily NAT tracks preferably in graphic format (not text NOTAM) ? Also https://www.notams.jcs.mil/common/nat.html seems to be inactive. Andreas Fuchs Posted March 9, 2017 at 09:24 PM Posted March 9, 2017 at 09:24 PM Yes, use Skyvector. You can display the NATs through the menu "Layers" ==> "Nav" ==> North Atlantic Tracks An official source of Tracks is the FAA's NOTAM website: https://pilotweb.nas.faa.gov/common/nat.html Waypoints follow a special naming convention in your FMS, have a look here: Another great resource is this page: https://www.virtualnorwegian.net/oceanic/ It is connected to this one here: http://new.vnas.net/pilot/ "Oceanic Clearance" and "Position Report" will provide you with a mask where you enter the data and you'll see what you would have to say to ATC to get your clearance. Kyprianos Biris Posted March 10, 2017 at 07:36 AM Posted March 10, 2017 at 07:36 AM I hadn't realized SkyVecrtor now has them, thanks Ernesto ! Andreas, you're a star, I always referred to some text notes I have to figure out how to input these AIRAC waypoints in the FMC depending on which side of the globe I was. You saved me lots of grief ! Robert, thanks for the note, its good you posted it for other future readers to know. As you might guess with the advent of the new "Queen of The Skies" I'm going back to Oceanic and NATs, something I had left for few years because there was no other long haul aircraft from the available ones that I fancy . I fly Concorde regularly Oceanic but it has(had) its own standard NATs. Andreas Fuchs Posted March 10, 2017 at 10:43 AM Posted March 10, 2017 at 10:43 AM Actually, another nice website regarding FMS-waypoints is this one: http://code7700.com/arinc_424_shorthand.htm A member referred me to it this week. Kyprianos Biris Posted March 10, 2017 at 04:32 PM Posted March 10, 2017 at 04:32 PM Nice one Andreas. Also found these nice ones for expected turbulence. Things like these have more meaning nowadays with software like ASN (weather) . http://www.turbulenceforecast.com/atlantic_westbound_tracks.php http://www.turbulenceforecast.com/atlantic_eastbound_tracks.php Hellenic vACC | Olympic Air Virtual Europe Region Director 2001-2011 Pilot: P5 | ATC: C3
Andreas Fuchs Posted March 10, 2017 at 08:39 PM Posted March 10, 2017 at 08:39 PM Absolutely! There used to be SIGWX charts with current tracks depicted as well. I normally use http://aviationweather.gov/progchart?gis=off Cheers, Andreas Member of VATSIM GermanyMy real flying on InstagramMy Twitch streams of VATSIM flights and ATC
