vPilot will not open window

Hello,

vPilot will not open any windows when I open it. (Same applies to debug)

I know the process is started, as vPilot does show up in the "Processes" tab of Task Manager, but it is not in the "Applications" tab, or anywhere to be found on the taskbar.

I've tried clean reinstalling several times.

Specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SP1

Intel Core i5-2320

AMD Radeon HD 6570

Thanks,

Harrison

Try running in debug mode and see if there is any info in the logs.

Debug won't even launch the window.

Here's a screenshot of Task Manager, for all. https://www.dropbox.com/s/oeltm6zt4uidjxr/taskmanager.png?dl=0

It's also in the VRC forums... http://www1.metacraft.com/VRC/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3369

Could it be starting off-screen? If you think it might be then try press and holding the Windows key then the right arrow key a few times to move it on-screen.

Unlikely but if you have ever used multiple screens then there is a chance...

When the window is first displayed, it checks to be sure the top left corner is visible on one of the active displays, and if not, it moves itself to the primary display, so I don't think it's off screen. Plus, if it were off screen, I think it would still appear in the applications list in task manager.

Yeah. I didn't do anything to my computer, it just stopped working one random day.

not sure if vpilot enters anything in the registry, try to check. uninstall, remove any entries you see in the registry for vpilot, reinstall

The only thing vPilot uses the registry for is to create shortcuts and store the install location. Clearing it out won't help, because the exact same values will be put back in when you reinstall.

I'm afraid without any debug log information, I'm at a loss as to why it doesn't work on your system.

Has me pretty stumped too. A couple of thoughts:

1. Have you tried going back to a Windows restore point before it stopped working?

2. Have you tried disabling your antivirus and then trying (maybe an AV update?)?

I googled "process starts but not application" and here is something that caught my eye that helped a few people: http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/164500-programs-show-under-processes-but-not-applications-tab.html

And this one helped a few people as well: http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/122804-process-running-programs-don-t-open.html

After a while of daily testing..

I'd like to reopen this thread..

I've tried every possible solution other than reinstalling my FSX or reinstalling Windows..

Still doesn't work.

try this, launch vpilot by itself, then press Alt + Tab to make sure vpilot is selected

then hold your windows key + the Up, Down, Left, or Right key. try them all to see which one brings it back, for me its usually Up that brings the application back with any app that has that happen

Did you try any of the things I suggested 2 months ago? I'm stumped too. You are the only person who's ever reported this.
