Darren Sheldon 1272746 Posted November 13, 2015 at 12:28 AM Posted November 13, 2015 at 12:28 AM Hi Guys, I've just attempted to use Ross's WorldofAiDownloader.exe for the first time in a while and it returns the following error message... "Could not find download link in HTML returned from AVSIM". I've had a quick search through the forum and it doesn't appear anybody else has experienced this error. The last time I used it was on my main FSX system it worked flawlessly. Any hints? (ive checked and i have the Dot Net Framework 4 installed) Cheers in advance

Ross Carlson Posted November 18, 2015 at 02:51 PM Author Posted November 18, 2015 at 02:51 PM AVSIM probably changed the structure of their HTML and now the program can't find the links. I'll look into it when I have more time. The software is open source if someone else wants to submit a patch. Ross Carlson Posted November 22, 2015 at 04:37 PM Author Posted November 22, 2015 at 04:37 PM Thanks David, I'll test it out now and get it merged in if it works. Ross Carlson Posted November 22, 2015 at 05:52 PM Author Posted November 22, 2015 at 05:52 PM The patch was missing code to determine the filename of the downloaded package before saving it to disk. I updated it to extract the filename from the Content-Disposition response header. I also switched to using DownloadDataAsync instead of DownloadFileAsync, since the program now doesn't know the filename until after the download happens. (Before AVSIM made this change, the program was able to extract the filename from the FTP URL, but that isn't an option anymore.) The new version is up at the same download URL: http://vpilot.metacraft.com/[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ets/Files/WorldOfAiDownloader.exe Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC

Ross Carlson Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:37 PM Author Posted November 23, 2015 at 04:37 PM Downloading the packages does not install them. Did you run the WoAI installer in order to actually install the packages in your sim? Kenz CHERIEF Posted December 13, 2016 at 08:41 AM Posted December 13, 2016 at 08:41 AM hi ! this programm seems awesome, is there any way to follow the updates WOAI makes ? like comparing the release date of the downloaded package and the release date of the same package on WOAI website ? (it involve logging all download the user make I guess) and then prompt the user that a package that he already downloaded is available with a more recent release date. I don't know if the software is still in developement or not but I think this could be a great idea. anyway thanks for sharing your work

Philip McNiel 1282687 Posted December 16, 2016 at 03:57 PM Posted December 16, 2016 at 03:57 PM LOL I find this link after literally spending an hour or two last night just downloading all the p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]enger airlines from WOAI for FS9 (I decided to call it a night before doing the cargo airlines, and I'm going to install FSX later when I get the CD buffed and working, so either way it's going to help me anyway). I'd figured out a system for manually downloading WOAI packages quickly and efficiently, but this is going to be so much faster than even that! simon cohen 1155361 Posted January 3, 2017 at 02:07 PM Posted January 3, 2017 at 02:07 PM HI ROSS i have p3d not fs9 or fsx how do i use this if at all?? simon the installer only works for fs2004
Bradley Grafelman Posted January 3, 2017 at 04:11 PM Posted January 3, 2017 at 04:11 PM The downloader doesn't care which simulator you use. The WoAI installer indeed only recognizes FS9 or FSX. However, you can easily fool it into thinking your P3D folder is an FSX folder by creating an empty file called "FSX.exe" and placing it in that folder. Alexander Robb 1337555 Posted January 22, 2017 at 01:26 PM Posted January 22, 2017 at 01:26 PM Hi, Are there any known issues with the downloader at the moment? I've used it before and it worked great but I've re-downloaded it today for my new computer and can't seem to get it to work. I get the error message "AVSIM login failed." despite my AVSIM details being correct. I've changed my AVSIM account details to make sure I'm definitely putting in the correct login details but alas I get the same error. Any idea on what the problem could be? Ross Carlson Posted January 22, 2017 at 03:40 PM Author Posted January 22, 2017 at 03:40 PM This is fixed ... they started using HTTPS URLs for both login and file download. The code wasn't elegant enough to detect that change. If you re-download the exe from the link in the first post here, it should start working again. Board of Governors Don Desfosse Posted February 7, 2017 at 01:36 PM Board of Governors Posted February 7, 2017 at 01:36 PM Please make sure you are using your AVSIM website credentials, NOT your AVSIM forums credentials. For some (inexplicable) reason, they are different. Historically, this has been the most common reason for the "AVSIM login failed" error.
