John Speranza 908835 Posted April 3, 2006 at 12:26 AM Posted April 3, 2006 at 12:26 AM Well, since we can't rely on VA's to keep events in check, Let's put "government" in charge. VATUSA, I say YOU organize TGIF from now on. Best of all, As VATUSA1, Jeff Turner is in charge! My oh my, how the tables will turn (Please don't take anything I say seriously; I'm just sarcasticly, and publically displaying my frustration at people of incompetent levels of maturity...No names mentioned.... )
Matthew Horan 901577 Posted April 3, 2006 at 12:28 AM Posted April 3, 2006 at 12:28 AM I still say bring it up north; we're a friendly bunch, and if you exclude Toronto, pretty dead when it comes to traffic Matt www.vatsim.net/prc

LOL Ok here are my 2 cents, the new TRACON spotloght night seems to be working well in replacement of the old regional night, however I do miss the regional night too, so how about the new "TGIF or insert new name here" be similar to the old regional night? This weeks TGIF is cancelled. Don't worry, TGIF isn't going any where. We are just taking a week off to enjoy some fun in the sun while we fly props down in the beautiful caribbean. The flight details for this will be posted by mid week. Frontier Virtual and UPSVAC are still on the partners page... Richard Green 810012 Posted April 3, 2006 at 09:08 PM Posted April 3, 2006 at 09:08 PM Folks... As it would be my job to take over this event, I for one would rather see the VAs continue to run it. I think the problem is in having one person claim TGIF as his/her own and then everyone else not having a say. I personally don't know all of the details yet ( have been quite ill) but I would rather see AvA, UPS etc continue it, I have found the other CEOs to be most easy to deal with in the past. I think that they have as much of a right to run TGIF as VCAIR. Paul Heaney 879309 Posted April 3, 2006 at 10:05 PM Posted April 3, 2006 at 10:05 PM I think people are missing the point, TGIF was a coop event with a few airlines. Having one VA go here, another there, and another there, and calling it TGIF defeats the point. TGIF was 1 event, where multiple VAs enter the same airport. I only see one person in this thread suggesting a format other than what TGIF has used, which incidentally is not just all VAs flying into the same airport ... for a while they've been using two airports within the same ARTCC, to help spread the load while still having a single "host" ARTCC for the event. I think the majority of us would agree that that is the best format and anything else would be a very different event. Paul Heaney 879309 Posted April 3, 2006 at 11:59 PM Posted April 3, 2006 at 11:59 PM I Stand corrected about the 1 airport. TGIF Was mainly 1 airport, until recently when it was aparent it was too big for 1 airport.

TGIF Was mainly 1 airport, until recently when it was aparent it was too big for 1 airport. Yep, especially when you consider that the traffic levels of TGIF reached and exceeded realworld levels. Keep in mind this hobby doesn't staff Centers and TRACONS the way the FAA does. We (ZKC) did one of the first TGIFs that split it out over two airports. It worked great. Ross Carlson Posted April 4, 2006 at 02:11 AM Posted April 4, 2006 at 02:11 AM Yeah, using two airports has made a noticeable difference at ZBW too. Gets more controllers involved and eases the stress a bit. I was controlling final at Boston when all of TGIF came into KBOS ... we were landing the 22s, then the wind shifted 180 degrees and tower switched to the 4s. I'm still in therapy ...
