we would need an update for the airspace of "EDGG_CTR" in Germany. EDGG_CTR combines the sectors of EDGG_E_CTR and EDGG_P_CTR, top-down. At the moment it does not seem to show up at all and I regularly have pilots reporting that they were not aware of EDGG_CTR being active/online.

Short-term solution: post a link to the updated files in the division forums (Germany in your case).

Mid- (to Long)-term solution: ask the developer of VATSpy to prepare an updated version with the new datasets.

Would like the Norwegian sectors correctly in VATSPY, as some of the possitions are not shown at all such as "ENOR_CTR".

It is also missing alot of the airports we have.

 

We have in vatsim scandinavia both pictures of the new sectors and updated vatspy files (including the airports) so let me know whitch which one you prefeer.

of course your update request is "legal"!

 

Interesting... for all German FIRs there is only one single (combined) sector defined (for EDGG, EDMM & EDWW).

 

If you could provide coordinates for both single sectors (in this case EDWW_A & EDWW_B) I can implement them, but I would like to know whether sub-sectors for EDMM & EDGG should be implemented, as well (for continuity throughout German airspace ). Maybe you could ask your local ATC coordinator about this?

do you know Qutescoop? At the moment it contains the correct display of sectors and subsectors for Germany.

 

To find the data/coordinates, after installing the program and downloading the latest set of data, you'll need to look for the files firlist.dat and firdisplay.dat. They can be found in AppData/Local/Qutescoop/Qutescoop/data.

Both files can be opened with a standard text-editor. First you'll need to locate the "FIR identifier" of the sector, you'll find it in firlist.dat. You'll then be able to fetch the coordinates from firdisplay.dat. E.g. for EDWW_A the identifier is "106", for EDWW_B it is "101".

 

If you don't have time to do this, I can do it for you, just let me know.

Yes, the file firdisplay.dat contains the coordinates for such sectors. It is not perfect either, but for our area it seems to be as accurate as we need it.

You have to find a way to convert it VatSpy's format, though. No idea if the data will still be helpful for you.

 

The format of the coordinates looks not bad (I simply need to replace the colon). I already completed the sectorization of Munich FIR, Bremen & Langen FIR will follow soon.

While testing the new sectors I encountered a big problem. It seems VATSpy in its current state doesn't "detect" callsigns like EDMM_N or EDGG_E properly, meaning e. g. that EDMM_N will still be displayed with the shape of EDMM. Obviously we would need "unique" callsigns for them like EDMN (for EDMM_N) or EDGE (for EDGG_E).

 

Unfortunately nothing I can do about at the moment...
