I remember when you joined, too. ROTFLMAO. Some people will try to turn even the best of wishes into something negative.

I love how you came back to edit the second half of this and took out your "sorry try again" comment...now u sound so positive and uplifting! That's som'n worth laughin about.

Regards,

JX

When I first heard the news that Dennis would be taking over the ATM spot, I was a little shocked - firstly because I did not realize Dennis even applied (the requirements were to be atleast a C3), secondly because of Dennis short amount of time with us.

However, I did not realize that Dennis had so much managerial experience from the r/w - Dennis is probably a 10x better candidate than myself or any others for that matter.

Even though I don't agree with an S3 being choosen to run VATUSA's largest ARTCC, Dennis is still a great man, and a great person to work with. I think Biderman may have made a good choice - and even though many of you might strongly disagree with the decision that he made, the decision was made.. it is a done deal.

We will see where ZTL heads in the next few months.

You sure there isn't something more to your post then what you are leading out?

Here's to those of us who keep it real! I think that comment applies throughout this forum.

Yes, but remember when people "keep it real" they get shut up pretty quickly.

Congrats Dennis. Have fun!

Not quite.

Some will understand, some won't. I'm not expecting everyone to follow. Not losing any sleep over it.

Dennis,

You're taking the reigns of an incredible organization, with a fantastic team. I have nothing but a tremendous amount of respect for what the folks in ZTL have put together. Put your people first, and have fun. Good luck.

Dennis,

Good luck with your new position.

Your success as a Chief will rely for more on your people skills than your controlling skills - thus your "time on network" may not hinder you at all.

Put together a plan, share it with others, and get their buy in.

Remember to surround yourself with capable people and administer what they do. If you try to micro manage a large ARTCC you are surely doomed. Get people involved - give them responsibilities, let them grow. Everyone in your center has something to offer - remember to give them a chance with a reasonable expectation of success, just as others have given you this opportunity.

There will always be people within your organization who harbor ill feelings towards you as a result of your appointment. If you are a true leader you will eventually win them over. Keep in mind that some people's feather may have been ruffled for not being selected, and those that are the hardest hit by not being selected are usually the same ones who care most about your center. Extend the olive branch and give them something important to do.

Above all - remember to plug in and have fun.

If you don't want for people to have concern with "what you do", then keep it off of a public forum.

Pushing your instructor to give you more frequent OTSs does not make you a better controller. Congrats, sir, look forward to what you bring to the VATUSA world.
