Ethan Klapper 884347 Posted May 27, 2006 at 02:49 AM Posted May 27, 2006 at 02:49 AM When I first heard the news that Dennis would be taking over the ATM spot, I was a little shocked - firstly because I did not realize Dennis even applied (the requirements were to be atleast a C3), secondly because of Dennis short amount of time with us. However, I did not realize that Dennis had so much managerial experience from the r/w - Dennis is probably a 10x better candidate than myself or any others for that matter. Even though I don't agree with an S3 being choosen to run VATUSA's largest ARTCC, Dennis is still a great man, and a great person to work with. I think Biderman may have made a good choice - and even though many of you might strongly disagree with the decision that he made, the decision was made.. it is a done deal. We will see where ZTL heads in the next few months. ~Terry Terry-- What a mature and gentlemanly thing to do (if that was a word ). I wish you, Dennis, and the rest of ZTL the best!! Bravo Zulu! Ian Elchitz 810151 Posted May 29, 2006 at 09:36 PM Posted May 29, 2006 at 09:36 PM Dennis, Good luck with your new position. Your success as a Chief will rely for more on your people skills than your controlling skills - thus your "time on network" may not hinder you at all. Put together a plan, share it with others, and get their buy in. Remember to surround yourself with capable people and administer what they do. If you try to micro manage a large ARTCC you are surely doomed. Get people involved - give them responsibilities, let them grow. Everyone in your center has something to offer - remember to give them a chance with a reasonable expectation of success, just as others have given you this opportunity. There will always be people within your organization who harbor ill feelings towards you as a result of your appointment. If you are a true leader you will eventually win them over. Keep in mind that some people's feather may have been ruffled for not being selected, and those that are the hardest hit by not being selected are usually the same ones who care most about your center. Extend the olive branch and give them something important to do. Above all - remember to plug in and have fun.
