Hi my Swift application is counting down to expiry, started at 28days!

How do I stop it expiring?

Hi Sean, you will have to update to our latest version. You should do this every time a new version gets published as some critical improvements may have been implemented.

I highly suggest using our Alpha releases. I use them all the time, no issues.

Thanks Andreas,  I’ve hit the check for updates several times since it is popping up, but it says you have current version.  I’ll DL and reinstall.  Thanks.

I think the detection/download function does not work for Alpha versions. In case that you use Discord, I recommend joining our support server. That's the fastest way of finding out about new releases.

If the Alpha is working so well, why wasn't it upgraded to beta?
If I refuse to use an Alpha version, I'll have to stop using Swift?

Lack of manpower.

You can happily use the latest BETA as well. It's just that it will usually lack behind development a little bit. We don't push unreliable DEV-versions to ALPHA. Hence we recommend using ALPHAs for swift. BETAs are fine, too, because they are actually ALPHAs pushed to BETA-status, when a new DEV-version has been tested and recommended for release.

I can use the beta for 25 more days, because as stated in the opening topic, it will expire @Andreas Fuchs

Yes, I know. I will forward the information to our DEV-team. As far as I am aware we have a DEV-version that should be pushed to ALPHA-status pretty soon, so the current ALPHA will become the new BETA.

I personally haven't used a BETA in years, because I am either on a DEV-version or I use an ALPHA. Even if you do not feel comfortable with ALPHAs, in the case of swift you can do so without issues, I never had any problems.

Addendum: the DEVs have announced

Unofficially, 0.12.48 is beta quality, but we'll make sure there's an official beta release before the expiry date.

They are aware of the expiry date and will release a new BETA in due time.
