Robbie Garrett Posted September 11, 2007 at 05:33 PM Posted September 11, 2007 at 05:33 PM I've been wanting to do something with the flight sim world for a long time now and i have had a real good idea as i want to spend a bit of money and get a site and create lot's of stuff. Im good and can create websites from scratch ive been working on a site for a while now and i have not decided what to do next with development terms and i do not want my own va just yet for vatsim but i have an idea of a fantastic idea that a young man would love to do as i am and im very enthusiastic to set up the London UK Sub-division, i will provide the site and hosting what i will decide with my mum if i can get the go-ahead for this fantastic idea. The UK Division is one of the busiest and all due respect to the owners of the uk-division, what im proposing to do is not what many people will do is create proffesional charts and clickable maps for the airspace with any London name. E.g EGTT or EGLL. All i want to do is create charts and much more like easy navigation, forum's, community, iframes to the vatsim so users can quickly sign up,pilot training & ATC training by proper Vatsim ATC controllers, all it is is taking the pressure off of the vatsim-uk so they can concentrate on more stuff as London is a well respected area and i have full knowledge that it's the best and busiest airport in the uk on vatsim. All im requesting is not much not much at all all under vatsim rules. Each and every airport will have easy navigation links so that people can easy navigate and full charts and information provided, Including how to hold at ockham for example or detailed STID'S or arrival paterns. Each Airport will have detailed statistics and a dedicated page to that airport. Also how to vector traffic into the busy heathrow much more and stuff like that. I also like to organize big events what im real good at so i was perhaps thinking a 4 to 6 hr Heathrow real operation's event or maybe a Real operations London event. Who know's Please tell me what you think? Regards, Robbie Qualified Private Pilot with @ London Biggin Hill Airport! Norman Blackburn Posted September 11, 2007 at 11:09 PM Posted September 11, 2007 at 11:09 PM Robbie, Have you touched base with the guys at VATSIM UK about this? Whilst there wont be a Sub Division (There is a London FIR/ARTCC already) I'm sure the guys at VATSIM UK would be grateful of your input. Robbie Garrett Posted September 12, 2007 at 04:39 PM Author Posted September 12, 2007 at 04:39 PM Hmm i wonder what i could do then as im intrested in only creating a sub-division, but im in contact with first choice airways over a possible first choice va with permission. Ruth McTighe 824054 Posted September 12, 2007 at 09:08 PM Posted September 12, 2007 at 09:08 PM Robbie, we really appreciate your enthusiasm. However you have only been a member for three days and you really need to spend some time on VATSIM first to find out how it all works and what is needed. There already is a separate area for London - it's called the Capital Regional Training scheme, so a London Subdivision would be pointless. VATSIM-UK already has an excellent website, so there's not much point in doing what has already been done. But the webteam are always looking for people to help with the bits that aren't finished yet. Or you can do what I did and set up a website of your own with your own ideas e.g. the clickable maps. I was responsible for the first website for the Essex controllers, and I know it was widely used until the VATSIM-UK site was more developed. If it's good people will start using it and things will grow from there. You don't need a special subdivision, just go ahead and create a website and see what happens. You might also like to look at the other specialist websites e.g. the South East RTS site to see what they have done. Ruth McTighe 824054 Posted September 12, 2007 at 10:06 PM Posted September 12, 2007 at 10:06 PM You really need to go and look at what has already been done, both on the VATSIM-UK site and elsewhere. Tim Krajcar Posted September 13, 2007 at 03:43 PM Posted September 13, 2007 at 03:43 PM Robbie, I am not a VATSIM-UK member or staff so I don't speak for them. Actions speak louder than words. You would get a much more favorable response if you had any examples of these charts made to show. Why not work on one or two to make sure you can do it before making grandiose promises? Wycliffe Barrett Posted September 13, 2007 at 03:43 PM Posted September 13, 2007 at 03:43 PM Hi Robbie Your enthusiasm is wonderful to behold, but you seem to be in a rush to reinvent the wheel as many of your ideas have already been done in one way or another. As making clickable charts etc that is one heck of a task and at the present time we can download charst from AIS or from Navigraph. As Ruth said perhaps your energies could be better utilised if you where to concentarte on one area of vaviation. I'm a member of the SWRTS and have spent sometime in developing my own website, but only for EGFF. It's very specific but I take great pleasure fromknowing that pilots have a look now and again and can get their charts etc via my site. A bit of friendly advice, slow down, think hard about what you wouldlike to do, something original and then pour you heart and soul into it. Also take up some of th eoffers that have been made to you for help. VATSIM is incredibly addictive, flying controlling and contributing to the community can be all consuming. Blue Skies. Robbie Garrett Posted September 13, 2007 at 04:08 PM Author Posted September 13, 2007 at 04:08 PM I mean if you look at the real AIS charts i could if i sat there do 4 charts per day or less it's not much and like Serts has a good website and this is just me wanting something that i would love to do. Capital ATS is my home and there forever i love EGLL and all the other airport's. How could i not put my heart and soul into this. I have been createing a template and i do not know what to do with it and this is something that could be usefull as AIS is Popular. Luke Harvest 929620 Posted September 13, 2007 at 05:10 PM Posted September 13, 2007 at 05:10 PM There's already SERTS doing a fantastic job with LGW. Robbie Garrett Posted September 13, 2007 at 05:14 PM Author Posted September 13, 2007 at 05:14 PM Maybe i could just use ais and that i should use them as these chart's could take a long time to create until that is done. Ruth McTighe 824054 Posted September 13, 2007 at 07:59 PM Posted September 13, 2007 at 07:59 PM Hold on, hold on, Robbie. The charts are published in the AIS. They are copyright - no-one is allowed to reproduce them on any other website. I would suggest you go ahead and make a sample website so the VATSIM-UK guys can see what you are capable of. You don't need their permission for that as long as you don't use any of their copyright stuff. But no-one is going to support you if all you do is keep posting on here instead of getting on and doing something. And is this going to be the first website you have ever made or have you done a website before that you can show us? If you can't think of a useful way of using your template, then you haven't learnt enough about VATSIM. You need to start logging on and learning to fly and control, and how the whole VATSIM organisation works. Daniel Doorgakant Posted September 13, 2007 at 10:05 PM Posted September 13, 2007 at 10:05 PM The site requires log in, and after that you have access to all the charts related to the UK. So why stick in a middle man.

Robbie Garrett Posted September 14, 2007 at 07:40 PM Author Posted September 14, 2007 at 07:40 PM Okey is it possible to do exactley this for this airport and so on:Like this for example on the gatwick page it gives a link to the chart's http://serts.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=42&Itemid=54 I will also post a picture up of the Site how it is going and the awnser is i have had 6 sites.
