Did you check the volume controls (as mentioned in the same three or four lines of text)? If you did, you might use TeamSpeak to test your sound. It has a local test mode. You can find a link to it on the download section of www.apollo3.com/teamspeak . The sound you hear is a notice that you've pressed the PTT to transmit. Many real world transmitters emits the same sound to indicate transmit mode. I believe it started when the transmitters went to including some computerized mechanism in the equipment. There's at least a second delay before transmission is effective. The beep prompts the user to speak after the beep. -- L. James -- L. D. If you did what I suggested in the previous message (meaning, tried configuring Teamspeak to work, since it has a local test mode), and it fails, I would say you probably have a none working sound device or need to install the correct drivers. -- L. I don't know of a way to test the sound, except to change devices as mentioned in the Announcement - Installing FSInn, then do a sound check with ATC. If it fails, try a different device, then do a sound check. Also make sure the volume controls are turned all the way to the right. Or, use the builtin sound test facility (which I use) of Teamspeak. Dave McNeil 1028030 Posted October 18, 2007 at 02:24 PM Posted October 18, 2007 at 02:24 PM Hi Larry, Dave again. I was looking for possible solutions to my problem in this thread, and have so-far been unable to find one. I have downloaded serv-info and have tried locating my plane at an airport where the serv-info indicates that the airport is covered by an online atc controller but I am so-far still unable to hear ATC. I have followed the proceedure to set up sound and voice - all sliders to the right, and the FSInn control panel appears to be working properly. When I click on the VASIM button on the control panel I clearly hear a tone and a blue sub-window appears at the top of my game with scrolling text. I configured the left control button as the PTT and can hear the beep when pushing it. I have tried tuning in the unicom frequency and still cannot hear any voices. I am confused when I read about seeing what frequencies are present, such as GRD and TWR as I do not see any such listings. What I have done is access my flight map on the cockpit control panel, locate the airport and the listings of ILS frquencies and tower frequencies, tuned by radio into all of them to try them but still hear nothing. any suggestions for me?? I also wanted to thank you again for all of your effort in getting me up and running with FSInn, you went above and way beyond the amount of help I expected, and I appreciate it, this forum is lucky to have ya. Dave Unless you have a specific reason for the Blue Sky radio, you should disable it. For me, it causes an annoying error message when exiting Flight Simulator. Take a look at the first message in the FSInn Support forum under Truble Shooting/Error when Exiting Flight Simulator. I'm reviewing your previous message about communicating with ATC, for a suggestion. -- L. James -- L. D. I configured the left control button as the PTT and can hear the beep when pushing it. I have tried tuning in the unicom frequency and still cannot hear any voices. There has been lots of debate on allowing voice in Unicom. I’m in favor of allowing voice Unicom (in conjunction with text, not to replace text) mainly for the purpose of allowing a user to get some understanding of whether his radio is working when there might not be immediate ATC in his immediate vicinity. However, at present, Unicom is text only. As far as I know, you’ll never hear voice on Unicom. So the only way you can really check is to get on a channel with a controller. I miss the days of SB2.x when I used to connect and within a few minutes I’ll hear someone, I’m sure at a location a thousand miles away say, “[CALLSIGN] Radio Check†sticky: Not a regular post, but a special thread/message stuck to the top with special meaning… containing important forum information.
