Brad Littlejohn Posted August 23, 2005 at 11:58 PM Posted August 23, 2005 at 11:58 PM Chicago or Denver, I can see. Hell.. even Omaha! But there is one thing we should consider, and that is that we're thinking like ourselves, at age 7: spoiled brats (myself included)! If we have this, we should also think about the VATUSA widows/widowers among us, as well as the children. While we're off at this convention, they'll need something to do, should they come along. So, we should consider that with the city selected, relative to the dates of the convention. Most places will still be thawing out from the winter, depending on how bad it is, but it is something to think about.. BL. Matthew Kramer Posted August 24, 2005 at 01:44 AM Posted August 24, 2005 at 01:44 AM Right. But don't put the convention in Middleofnowhere, Nowehseresstate, USA. If it is in a larger city, or near one, you can reason with your wife/husband/parents/ that it would be a *Great* *family* vacation as well. *hint hint*. -Matt ZLA DATM, I1
Brad Field 913829 Posted August 24, 2005 at 02:04 AM Posted August 24, 2005 at 02:04 AM I think it should be in New Orleans. In the middle of the US, with the french quarter, KMSY/KNEW, 50 cheap top notch hotels with convention rooms, D-day musem, and about 500+ sites to see, New Orleans would be perfect for a convetion. Most flights into MSY on SWA are also VERY VERY VERY cheap! Go New Orleans, Brad

Mark Brummett Posted August 24, 2005 at 09:22 PM Posted August 24, 2005 at 09:22 PM Most hotels, if you get a certain amount of people, will offer conventioneers a price break. I got an absolutely awesome double full room at the Dulles Hilton for 85 per night (inexpensive in that part of the country). By far the nicest room for the price I've had in a while. Save for the four a.m. fire drill. That same room without the break runs about 199 a night. C'mon Mark! At least you HEARD the 4am fire drill!!!! Some of us ended up being "incapacitated" by those developers plying us with drinks all night in the hotel bar. My head still hurts! And no Joel, Mike and Ben....RJ really didn't sign over VATSIM to you guys!!! Well, at least as near as I can recollect. George, I was about as "depleted" as any of you guys were...I rediscovered Vodka Tonics that night. I remember thinking what a horrible joke that was. Ran into Ernie Alston downstairs; thought I was the only one in the group that heard it. Had to be someone holding their lighter upto the detectors and thinking "this is going to be FUNNY"..haha Mark Brummett Website owner, http://www.zkcartcc.org ZKC Events Co-ordinator

Andrew Miller 873677 Posted August 24, 2005 at 11:25 PM Posted August 24, 2005 at 11:25 PM This is a VATUSA convention. I still believe that we should have it somewhere centrally located, that way it's most efficient on travel expenses. That would be most fair.
