Daniel Hawton Posted November 24, 2010 at 02:35 PM Posted November 24, 2010 at 02:35 PM That's why god invented Macs. Uh, no. Far better operating systems out there than the Mac OS.

Brendan Lynch 1167842 Posted November 24, 2010 at 04:10 PM Posted November 24, 2010 at 04:10 PM Linux I'm not familiar with, and I believe that article was referring to Windows causing the crash.
Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted November 24, 2010 at 04:51 PM Posted November 24, 2010 at 04:51 PM That was a windows server in 2004. Newer versions of windows are quite a bit more stable than that, it was probably Windows 2000 that crashed. Mac doesn't mac server products for that sort of application and Windows desktops are stable enough for desktop use, but probably aren't good for critical purposes. Linux, however, is commonly used for critical servers, and performs extremely reliably.

Well, OS X hasn't been around that long.. but they have had Server operating systems since longer before X. Brandon, you just need to broaden your horizons. Several systems are more stable for servers, including Linux, UNIX, Solaris, etc. UNIX-based systems are so much more stable in fact that OS X is built off a variant of it. Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted November 24, 2010 at 06:35 PM Posted November 24, 2010 at 06:35 PM Sorry about that confusion, I was referring to the fact that the version OS X used for servers is not identical to that used for desktop uses.

That way lies madness.
David Zhong Posted November 25, 2010 at 08:13 AM Posted November 25, 2010 at 08:13 AM When I was in a tower here in Canada, I saw that here they run the radar as an application on a copy of Windows XP. This comes to mind: ...And yes that was photoshopped. Jake, you should know that it should look more like this! We need a penguin emoticon!
